My vote was nichia/2/memory.

With 3 or more modes, mode-order comes into play. Make it H/M/L, and most of us will hate it, as I seem to recall most people here strongly prefer L/M/H. With 2 modes, it’s H/L/H/L/H/L/… regardless. And with memory, there’s no grexing about whether it starts on H or starts on L.

Strobe? It’s almost always a dealbreaker for me unless it’s extremely well hidden. A fast pair of clicks to advance 2 levels can be mistaken as a doubleclick and start strobing. Yecch. Best to just skip it entirely.

Me, I’d be happy with full-on, 1-mode, on/off, but I’m the exception.

Nichia, 3 modes with memory because it starts on High.

If it went L, M, H no memory needed.

I voted for Nichia / 3 mode / no memory.

Always start in low so the user doesn’t accidentally blast their eyeballs with full power in the dark. Then medium, then high.

Mode levels: 15lm, 50lm, 200lm for reasonably equal spacing.

No strobe. I refused to buy the current F2 because of the strobe.

Nichia 219B: 5000K 90+ CRI for neutral white and good colour rendition.

I’ve noticed that most “ordinary users” prefer higher colour temperatures because they “look brighter”. Very few people like my warm white lights, but the cold white lights don’t come in 90+ CRI. 5000K is a good compromise for the 2xAA “ordinary user” target market.

If you make a new F2 like this, I’ll buy a couple for myself and more as gifts.

Modes - Moonlight-L-M-H
Nichia - yes
Memory - yes
Strobe - double click.
or have a programmable UI like Biscotti that allows for a range of mode orders, flashy options, and memory on/off.

Thank you all for your specific analysis here.

The modes of F2 is based on the normal way: L-M-H-S, lol

Actually, the poll is the form thing, we can discuss about details of the light you expect
Any comments will be highly appreciated.
Hope those who have bought the F2, can share something about user experience here.

4 modes no strobe

and light is a waste of time without 14500 functionality.

Same.

+1 for No strobe

I got one F2 in the last GB giveaway and have been using it around the house. The most annoying part is cycling through the modes with strobe mode in the middle.

Emitter: nichia, 3 Modes with Memory Function is ok to me. Or even two modes here would do it.
And not something like “programmable UI like Biscotti that allows for a range of mode orders, flashy options, and memory on/off”. Keep it simple. It’s AA flashlight perfect for gift, etc … and not just for Ph.D flashaholics.

Great idea this poll!

All option are welcome if delete the strobe!
My vote for 2 modes, no memory, starts on high, this is perfect for me and for gift, normally persons forgot the function of flashlights that I give to them , but with always turn on in high and no memory, not will be problem.

+1
voted Nichia, 3 mode, memory

Please, I remember to all, that with a good NiMH like eneloop or Fujitsu runtime for High is about 1 hour 40 minutes and not the indicated by the brand, I do not know how they measured the data (perhaps alkaleaks…., but the values are infinitelly better than the specs…. :innocent:

Reading this I am so happy with Bistro and Narsil, all these mode options and more can be set by user. It still amazes me that only Simon wanted to do something like this.
If I was a manufacturer I’d go for either one of them, depending on the type of switch and have a great advantage over all other brands (even Simon did Biscotti not full blown Bistro and the D4 has also not full Narsil)

My suggestion:
ML (0.5) – Low (15) – Medium (50) – High (200) would be a good configuration!
NO Strobe, and NO memory
Tint: Neutral White to Warm White
Floody

In the absence of these characteristics I voted for:
“Emitter: nichia, 3 Modes without Memory Function”

I can’t vote, the site takes me to a random page.

For the record, I voted “Emitter: nichia, 3 Modes with Memory Function”

4 mode with memory and with moonlight mode or very low would be awesome - 0.5 - 1 lumen, 15 lumen, 50 then 200 lumen would be nice.
Strobe mode not really needed for what I use lights for

Hi, Gearbest!

Can you give us any news on this project? I’m still interested
