None of the D4 bezel is glued, all you need is a bit more force.
But I advise the user do not try to unscrew the bezel (what is the need anyway?), the tightly screwed bezel is crucial
for the heat sinking.
I have been looking for a suitable clip for the D4 also. Today i tried using a clip from a Convoy S2+, it is almost a perfect fit except it is a little long.
I also used heat shrink tubing around the ring area of the clip to protect the body from scratches. Tubing dimensions are 4mm in diameter and 24mm length. Used a small torch.
Very easy mod to do and should be ok for now until i find a more suitable clip.
Here are the links to pics showing what it looks like.
I got around to installing an old Solarforce clip on my green D4 tonight. As I read about here, I needed to open up the inside diameter a little and install a conductive spacer inside the tailcap.
My SolarForce L2 clip has been working pretty well, but I should probably find something a little better than a paperclip to use as the spacer. It seems like the paperclip has reduced maximum output a bit.
The clip itself could stand to be a bit shorter, since it routes fabric directly into the edge of the clip groove. It’s not bad though, and I appreciate the wide opening on both sides of the contact point. It’s also nice that I can add/remove the clip without scratching anything.
Yeah, sorry, there is no strobe or bike mode on the D4.
I enjoy some blinkies at times, especially party strobes, but those weren’t part of the D4 design. If you ever get the chance though, it’s fun to play with water under a motion-freezing party strobe.
