I grew to viscerally loathe the dreaded Maglite “Doughnut Hole Of Death” when opening it up to flood. I’d just as soon threadlock my 2D to fixed-focus as a pencil-beam than have to experience the DHOD ever again.
My “gunmetal” color (“gray”?) 2D I keep in pristine condition, ie, unused. It’s too pretty to have it rolling around on the ground or anything. No idea what I’ll ever use it for, if anything. If I’d spring for a retrofit (it’s already got the Mag drop-in LED bulb), it’d have to be something more useful, like one of the ($$$!) retrofits with an XHP70 or so.
Minimags, I love ’em to death for “Match-mods”, to refit ’em to take D26 drop-ins. They also take standard 20mm TIR lenses vs hacking apart the plastic reflector.

Fixed that, thanks!!! I do most of the editing in my spare time after work and I don’t envy folks that do this one bit, it’s been a big time sink. If you find any other broken links or anything like that please give me a shout. I tried to get my wife to do some proofreading to no avail.
I still like the incan Mags even with their low output and terrible beams. I think it’s more nostalgia than anything else though. 
The modern lights blow them away but for 20+ years these were the best lights you could get and I don’t remember a summer in my childhood without a trusty Maglite.
Where can I purchase some heat sinks like the H22A ones.?

Yeah, for ages Maglite was THE flashlight- hardly any others were worth a second glance. Only the prices kept me from owning any 
I got hooked with the Solitaire- the first decent tiny flashlight ever widely made, it was always there on the keyring when you needed a light. It was wanting something better in that size that got me into LED lights.
I still have and occasionally use a few incan Maglites- same as always, when you need it, you know it will work Good blogsite too- I never knew Don Keller went to work with Maglite or had developed so many other flashlight firsts :+1: I still remember the Maglite ads in “Guns and Ammo” magazines, from the first small one in the classified pages to the full-page sexy ones later on. Nostalgia? Why not!

Ohh yeah, the Maglites weren’t always as cheap as they are now. Interestingly they have always been the same price, around $22, but this is the equivalent of $100 now when they first came out. I got into them because you can pickup vintage ones of ebay for $10 or so and they were soo much fun to tinker with. There’s not too much you can’t fix on them.
I’ve spoke with Don a few times since I’ve been collecting and a lot of my info came from him. He used to use Tony’s machine shop to supply parts when he worked for Bianchi in the mid 70s so that’s how they got involved. Very interesting story there and it’s too bad Don doesn’t get as much recognition as Tony does.
