Batteries for H03 + other fun stuff on gearbest

So,

I decided I’m going to pull the trigger on the H03 from GearBest.

I’m now deciding which batteries to go with it. Are there any good affordable 18650’s on Gearbest?
Really just need a pair or so (primary and a backup).

I’ve looked at a few places online, but when ordering in small quantities the shipping crushes you for the battery cost.

- Protected or not for H03?

- Does high current matter? (I assume even the 6A ones would be fine for a little headlamp?)

  • Would definitely want to get as much capacity as possible in case I use them for multi-day hikes (3000-3400mAH), though might make an exception if there are some good deals running

H03 has low voltage protection. Protection is not needed. Button or flattop work as well.

It doesn’t pull much current so you could get a higher capacity 3500mAh cell if you wished.

You usually have to buy several to get a good deal on 18650s. If you plan on buying higher current flashlights in the future you might as well buy 30qs if you are going to buy several. https://www.gearbest.com/batteries/pp_232875.html

Works out to $4 each.

A single one of these is 4.50. https://www.gearbest.com/batteries/pp_677241.html
I haven’t seen the review on that but their 26650 cells are good.

This is a good deal if you want a small cheap charger:

$ 1.99 code: MINI100B

well be advised that there is no longer free shipping to USA
so the $4 becomes $5 each

To weigh in here are a few good options I’ve found so far in smaller quantities (that include shipping):

Fasttech: (with 5% off coupon)

Samsung INR18650-35E 3.6V 3500mAh (2-Pack) - $9.92 shipped
Authentic Sanyo NCR18650GA 3.6V “3500mAh” (2-Pack) - $10.81 shipped
LG 18650MJ1 3.6V 3500mAh (2-Pack) - $9.81 shipped
Panasonic NCR18650B 3400mAh 3.7V 18650 - $10.19 shipped

For small quantities those all look like good deals at around $5/battery shipped. The Samsung 35E seems to have the most capacity.

In case off a multi day hike you don’t care of the capacity of a single cell. You simply pack a second cell in an appropriate container in your bag!

I would aim for Samsung 30Q cell. An overall good cell, can stand high loads. You will buy high driven lamps in the next time, too many nice lamps are coming: Emisar, FW3A.
It’s easier if you have one type of cells.
Only my 2 cents
