What's Your Thoughts On GEARBEST

Until my lights I bought from Gearbest arrive (din’t know what I was thinking, could’ve bought directly from Convoy Aliexpress store) I’m hoping they don’t come like the “fake” ones I saw threads about. The threads are old, and at least one of the lights didn’t exist back then (Clear C8), but I hope the S2+ doesn’t come with an aluminium pill or something like it

EDIT:

I’ve got them today and they match exactly everything posted on those lights, so everything with my order was fine

They certainly not what they were even 6-8 months ago. 2 orders, placed same day, both show “delivered” but no proof of delivery. They told me to take it up with the carrier (Fedex) who says…tada, DELIVERED. I have no proof what address they actually went to and fedex won’t give any info because I’m not the shipper. Gearbest’s comment “you should have bought insurance”. Sorry, I already pay extra for faster shipping and a tracking number, now they want yet ANOTHER fee on top of that or they play the ‘he said, she said’ game until you just give up. This is after being a frequent customer for at least a couple years.

Shipment before that was damage “send us a video” “I don’t own a video camera and am not about to buy one” “send a video” Ok, I shoot on on my phone but hey, its too large to fit their tiny upload window. Took me hours to find a utility to down sample and crop the stupid video to get a refund on a $30 item. My time is worth more than that.

They purposely do not answer the customer service questions you ask, just cut and paste a boilerplate response to drag out the process in the hope you will completely give up. This has been for the last 3-4 months or so. I get an average of 2-3 packages a day, most from China. I know what the shipping is like and they have dropped the ball big time. I won’t recommend them and, in fact, direct people to the competition now because of their bad attitudes.

No problems so far - 34 orders. :+1:

Old news but I have been away awhile.

Here is the outcome of the VTC6 I bought in June.

A few days after purchasing them I was thinking that $20 for 4 X VTC6 had to have a catch. My guess was that they would have a good chance of being OLD STOCK.

They were. I received them on 6.26.2017 and the DOB was 6.22.2016. 1Y 4D old! I contacted gearbest and gave them pictures, how to unscramble the code, ect. First they offered me a $5 refund. I said that is NOT acceptable. So they ended up giving me $10. Basically I got One year old VTC6 for $2.50 each. No complaints there, I just did not like their deception and suggested to them that they need to let you customer know that they are selling OLD STOCK and not try to pass them as brand new batteries.

The average Joe would not know any better.Would not know anything about the codes[date]

All and all I give them credit for working with me and giving me half my money back,on the other hand I discredit them for their deception.

I would never buy from them again based on their deception and the fact that I spent more than $10 worth of my time to get a refund from them,it was several emails b/4 the issue was resolved.

Other than their free basic shipping taking forever, they have good deals. I’ve bought several flashlights and upgraded shipping, which sometimes runs over the stated time but they are better than Banggood as far as orders go.

I have only ordered very few items (approx. 15) but they were shipped quickly. Packaging and overall quality of items was good. I would order from them again, now that I have found coupon codes.

THIS is my experience with GearBest. And with several orders since this time…. it still holds true.
Excellent in all ways. :+1:

Never had any problems with GB, but I do worry slightly about shipping times at the moment. They have had some crazy (ie, good for the buyer) deals this month, and if you think that some have 300, even 500 pieces, being snapped up in minutes, that’s a lot to process.

With my recent Banggood purchases I’ve had a shipping notice the day after the order, which is as good as it gets. With the recent GearBest activity I’ve bought 4 things over the last week or so, and not yet received any shipping email.

I would assume (don’t know it though) that Gearbest is now a lot bigger than before, with a lot more employees? How many folks actually work at GB? that would be good to know.

A “day in the life of Gearbest” video would be awesome.

My gripe, if you want to call it that, is that if you have a great sale, eg, that LK 100 charger for 2bux, the shipping with tracking number and insurance could be more than twice the price for the part itself on top of its standalone price, so the only way to not take a beating is to use the free shipping and just have it arrive in a month or two.

If GB would allow multiple purchases of the same item (even 2 or 3), or allow flash sales and coupons to be combined (applying one “erases” the others), you could bundle orders, have tracking, insurance, the works, and still have a nice deal.

It’s especially puzzling if there’s a “warehouse clearance sale”, which I imagine is to sell off the items as quickly as possible to get them out of the warehouse (discontinued?), yet there’s still a 1-per limitation. 1 per order, and 1 per account.

And yeah, as someone mentioned elsewhere, I’ve got 2 orders that are still in “processing” mode for almost a week already. I imagine they’ll be shipped eventually, but it’s a little unnerving not knowing if it’ll be tomorrow or next week.

Other than that, I’ve had good luck with GB so far.

Yes May posted lotsof pics in a GAW once.
Indeed a lot of people working there.

Never got my Nitecore TIP, asking them about refund put me thought a lot of standard questions and they finally offered me to ship again, instead of offering a refund. If I knew it would take 6 months (past 3 plus 3 more until reshipping arrives) I’d have bought it full price from many of the reliable aliexpress sellers I’ve bought flashlight related products from

Back in 2015, I didn’t much care for how long it took between me placing an order and them posting it in the mail. Afterwards, they got better speed-wise, and also on the customer service front. Last purchase (a Ganzo folder) was as spotless and painless as any Banggood purchases I’ve made thus far.

Too bad they don’t ship batteries to my address anymore.

Gearbest shipping time is reasonable and they have moderate offers, yet lately their coupon codes policy changed: plus, their other codes last only few days and you have to ask for them over and over, its frustrating.
Bangood have way better offers and CC policy at this moment

I dont buy much from them now especialy for the reasons mentioned above

can only say positive stuff so far about them no packages lost and usually fast shipping within 2 week stuff arrives.

5 stars from me about Gearbest for both delivery and troubleshooting. Never one package was missed/undelivered. Emails/tickets are always replied. Excellent service.

5 stars for gearbest

reps here Gina gearbest are very helpful

I usually receive my orders in new condition and as described-

When something goes wrong, and it's not often, their customer service has always resolved the issues to my satisfaction-

Other people may have different experiences, but I can't complain-

Gearbest should be avoided at all cost. Here is just one of my bad experiences with gearbest:

I ordered a flashlight which I didn’t receive. After some digging around on other forums I found out that there was a problem with dutch customs. They shipped all items back to Gearbest. A few members of the Dutch forum “gathering of tweakers” had this issue and contacted Gearbest.

I paid for the flashlight partially with store credit which I saved by buying lot stuff from Gearbest. The remaining amount was paid with PayPal. They would not refund me my store credits. And the remaining amount was refunded to my Gearbest wallet. (Although I had asked to refund the amount to my PayPal account.)

The support just acts like they don’t understand my questions. They just ignore the questions and copy past default answers. Other shops like Fasttech have a much better support and answers questions and don’t use stall techniques. It’s much more pleasant to contact their support. In sharp contrast to the Gearbest support, they are very frustrating to deal with.

Anyways I will never buy at their store again and would advise everybody to do the same.

I’m at more than 30 orders now and I’m satisfied with my shopping experience at Gearbest.
Up until now I’ve only had problems with 1 order, and it was favourably dealt with.
Shipping could be faster, but it’s at par with other sites shipping from China.
I really don’t like the geographic limitation on the coupon offers, that are becoming more common.
