hurricane Irma

Well the flashlights are all getting a workout this week. Hurricane Irma knocked our power, water and 6 trees. But as luck would have it none of the trees hit the house. The water came back in a day but still no power. Never again will the wife complain about packages coming to the door with lights inside.
So far the MVP of the storm has been the m6 from richard. long run time and easy to tailstand makes it very handy.
The s70 is good also for long runtime and output. Every one has been very handy. Nice to have good lights when you NEED one.

That’s lucky that none of the trees hit the house. Glad the lights are coming in handy. I never have any use for any of my lights lol

I keep telling people at work who think I’m nuts for carrying a flashlight (never mind the several others in my bag  ) that they’d be glad to have one or more should the lights go out.

It’s like trying to explain baseball to a dog.

 :+1:

glad you are ok! I also never use flashlights, almost no need for them. Guess that might also be a good thing.

I carry 2 flashlights with me at all times. A Nitecore Tip, and an Olight i3 EOS. You never know when you’ll need one in an emergency.

Glad you’re okay man. I dodged a bullet here as well. Damage all over town here but my neighborhood was spared. Prayers do work!

I’ll have to say that Irma was far more severe in terms of damage than any of the hurricanes in ‘04 . My home is on a wooded one acre lot . ( Less wooded now , though )
I lost several mature trees ( 70’ + ), including two smaller trees that I grew from seeds as well as one that was a gift from my late mother . Branches and leaves are everywhere . Huge piles of debris in every yard .
I spent the last two days cutting up and hauling trees to the curb and will be spending every weekend for a couple of months cleaning up the rest .
Luckily , my house , sheds , and barbershop sustained minimal damage .
We were also lucky that our power was only out for 18 hours , and our internet service for three days .

We used several Convoy tube lights for navigation , head lamps for close-up work , and tailstanded a SRK for general room illumination .

As millions are still without power and internet service , the true extent of the damage has yet to be reported .

I am also pleased with the use of Olight i3. Bought my from hkequipment in 2011 as “iTP A3 Titanium EOS Cree XP-G S2 Keychain Flashlight Ti” and Olight Christmas 2010 Titanium is written on it in my case. It’s the same inside with yours atbglenn I think.
Still my favorite keychain flashlight…

Klarus X5 is my second SS small keychain favorite with its AAAA batteries.

I bought 2 of them in 2011 from Going Gear and they will surely outlive me with their robust construction. Was expensive for keychains then - about 120$ for two.

I feel your pains jacktheclipper. Harvey did it to us. I worked four days clearing the front of my property full of huge Oak brush, Pine, and mucky thatch. Uprooted trees are major W”O”RK…The back property will be months before restored. All wood fencing gone and endless brush, twigs…etc trashes litter the properties.

The L6 was quite the security light after dark. Ten days here with no power. I lit up the entire neighborhood when I peaked out in response to bumps in the night. My neighbors thought it was a UFO at first. Great light!

Kudos to the soda can lights…Supfire M6, and SkyRayKings. I didn’t hesitate to grab these winners. They light rooms up instantly and burn forever on low with their four in parallel 18650’s. Just carry in hand and place on tables room to room… LlifeSavers they are. I have three…and a fourth when Q8 arrives.

The Yard Solar lilghts are great too. Just leave them outdoors in the day, unsrew the tops and bring inside at night. They burn all night and you can light up the whole house with one in each room. Next morn, put them outside agaiin.

My two daughters commented that I “had been preparing my whole life for this event”. They knew for years that I had lots of lights… What a laugh we all had on that note.

Just back on from a direct NE eyewall hit. The stars of my collection were Klarus G20, Olight R50, S20 & S30, and 2 Ryobi 18V 180 lum work lanterns w/24WH batteries + 30min fast charger. Those lanterns ran all night on low light setting on one battery. Minimal damage here, and survived with 5.5K watt generator back feeding my panel, so was able run well system and other conveniences.
