"FREE" LED Light Bulbs at OSJL in MA, RI, CT (NH, NY out of stock)

i’m down in alabama with a banjo on my knee, but this deal is still going on, and i just got 10 free Cree bulbs from OSJL in CT. pretty pink plastic bag and all that too.

i told a friend your story of this crazy deal with 10 bulbs and the $9.90 gift card, and then she brought me a bag full yesterday. Turns out her family lives up there and she makes an annual summer trip home—and she had to see if it were true for herself. It is! Thanks for sharing the pictures and details of this great deal.

Funny thing is that her familia wasn’t even interested in loading up some bulbs for themselves—go figure…

Did they ship them or travel all that way just to get them to you?

Like I mentioned before,
It seems as the whole world is in darkness, and doesn’t see the light.

I know personally, that if I have been deprived of a “need” in the past, once that “need” becomes available I tend to over compensate. That’s why I jumped all over this opportunity, while others pay it no mind.

Today is July 16, 2017
I was in the Wethersfield, CT store today and there seems to be no end to the supply of Cree bulbs.
Crazy Deal is still on at all stores. I took this picture today. That’s a lot of bulbs!

BTW, here’s a picture I shot not too long ago at Home Depot when they first started to clear out the Cree’s
These bulbs are now found at OSJL for “free”

Nice price, but the store is not near to me. :frowning: Are these bulbs also sold online at this price?

Today is September 14, 2017
The CREE bulbs at OSJL is dwindling down to just the flood lights and 40W equivalents.
But they are bringing in other brands and styles and putting them on CRAZY DEAL. Yesterday I picked up 12 of the filament style LED’s for 99 cents each and got a $12 gift card. The sign said $11.88, but they gave one for $12 Better than “free”

Less then penny deals, very impressive

I just realized, they paid me a penny each to buy them

I better go get some more…………
see ya.

I finally found LED bulbs at the local Dollar Tree. Two of them already replaced burned out CFL bulbs on the rear porch, and just in time for cooler weather when CFL’s take longer to reach full brightness.

It has been over a year now that I first came across these “free” LED bulbs at OSJL.
These are still available, they just keep trucking more and more in!
MaxLite, GreenLite, CREE and FEIT plus others.
Here are pics of some of the latest offerings.

Notice that now some of these LED’s are High CRI

Note that the High CRI versions of this recessed light comes in both Warm White and Daylight

CREE High CRI flood and a Maxlite High CRI recessed light, 1200 Lumen dimmable!

If you are ever near one of their stores, you just haft to stop in and get some.

Late last year some of the stores around here had cases of the 100W equivalent 1600 Lumen FEITS at 3000K. My favorite bulb of any in this thread. Most stores NEVER put them on the floor but there were still in an over head. I would pull them down and buy them at 99 cents each. And yes, they were CRAZY DEALS. Got my gift cards for those too. I got hundreds.

You can’t beat those br30’s for that price, but the Feit br30’s at Costco are a little brighter and the CRI is 90+. I have them inside and out and so far none have failed on me, so they’re looking pretty good compared to the Cree’s I’ve paid full price for. If it were me, I’d take those free Cree’s and only install them in fixtures that require nothing more than a step stool. I have some fixtures that I need an extension pole for, which is a serious pita, and I’d never Cree’s up there.

FEIT is my favorite brand too. I have hundreds of bulbs in service, the worst is the Utilitech, just as someone had mentioned. I have not had CREE’s fail on me other than they got wet inside in an outdoor fixture. I have had one of the CREE 4Flow bulbs running for 4 years straight now 24/7. Seems good as new. (the 4flow bulb uses convection currents to keep the LED’s cool)

What no one talks about it the significant loss in lumens in some of these LED’s over time. Just as the CFL’s do.

99 cent FEIT 1600 lumen, that is an incredible price and i agree, the best LED bulb i have ever used. I got mine at $5 each and some more at $3 each but those deals never came back, glad i stocked up on some but at 99 cents i would replace all my bulbs with them.

The light bulbs and deals just keep on coming at OSJL
The latest deal is this 4 foot LED shoplite by Greenlite for $4.99!

These are available only in the Massachusetts and Rhode Island stores.

I looks as though other models could be linkable, this one is not.
And here is a partial tear down. I counted 120 LED’s, driven by 70VDC. Very simple and smart design! Once the endcap is removed, the diffuser slides right out

My dream bulb, or at least the one I really wanted to get to try out has finally come to “Crazy Deal”
The 100W Cree!
I was in an OSJL yeaterday, I ALWAYS stop in when I drive by one, and came across this.

They were tagged at 99 cents, the question was, were they on crazy deal? No sign specifically declared they were. All of the other styles on display were. So I brought one up to the register and asked them to ring up 10 to see, and if that didn’t work try 12.
12 did the trick!

Over the past year that these Crazy Deals have been on I have found 5 different brands of 100W equivalent bulbs, each costing 99 cents or less with a full refund at the register in the form of a gift card to the store.
Left to right the the picture.
FEIT 1600 Lumen, Dimmable, 3000K
GreenLite 1600 Lumen, Dimmable, 3000K
MaxLite 1600 Lumen, Dimmable, 2700K
SATCO 1600 Lumen, non Dimmable 2700K
CREE 1600 Lumen, Dimmable 2700K

Of note, the MaxLite and the GreenLite look identical from the outside and appear very similar in construction once dedomed

MaxLite 2700K on left and GreenLite 3000K on right. Note the slight difference in the color of the Phosphor of the individual LED’s between the 2 bulbs

With all these crazy deals on bulbs, astronauts will soon tell us CT is the brightest state.

Last Summer i was able to get 10 of these led bulbs from OSJL in the 40W equivalent. They have worked great and you can’t beat the price. i do however have one bulb in the hallway that has started to flicker.

Have you experienced any failures or flickering bulbs? What do you think is causing the flicker?

I have only had 2 failures so far from the OSJL bulbs. Both were MaxLite 100 equivalents. Both times the aluminum “star” that the individual LED’s are mounted to were not screwed tightly to the sink. Both times the “star” got so hot that the solder joint to the connector melted.
In both cases I resoldered the connection and they worked fine. I have not yet seen any failures due to flickering, that would seem to me to be a failure in the driver. Did you get 40W Crees? And if so are they the earlier heat sinked ones, of the 4flow ones with the vent?

I must add that this deal is STILL on over a year and a half later. Just today I took a short break and traveled the 20 miles or so over the Massachusetts border to pick up yet more bulbs. OSJL now offers a second iteration of the GreenLite 100W bulbs that are a little larger than the originals. I also used the Crazy Deal cards I get for buying them to get a friend 15 of the twin tube, 4100 lumen shop lights @$14.99 each.
Also when I went to my local Home Depot, one of the employees asked me for 5 more of the $4.99 LED shop lights.
I sell the shop lights that I get at cost and give away the individual bulbs to friends.
A comparison of the 2 different 100W Greelites.

Also, when I was in a Busy Beaver home store I came across a display of the SATCO bulbs that I get at OSJL for $2.99 the 4 pack. The deal at OSJL is buy 4 of the 4 packs and get a gift card at the register for the full purchase price. ($11.96)

The price for a single 4 pack at Busy Beaver was $24.99. That is a typical price for a bulb of this type.

I didn’t mention in this thread, but for a short while ago the OSJL stores had tons of these very nice high CRI spotlights by CREE. I was able to get several hundred of them before the stores were cleaned out. They went fast at the 75 or so stores that carried them!
Same deal, 99 cents per bulb, buy 12 and get a gift card at the register for the total purchase price. ($11.88)

At the same time this was going on at OSJL, Home Depot had the very same bulbs marked down 75% to $5.02 (originally about $20)
