Forward switch for Convoy C8?

Bonjour à tous!

I want to add to some Convoy C8 I use at work (the newer model, with the 12 group programable driver) a forward switch so I no longer need to full click and release to turn the light on.
This will be used only with single mode group.

I have been looking for a direct replacement with no luck…
any tips, ideas or links?

Merci beaucoup in advance!

Forward clicky switches are usually a bit taller, so it’s possibly not an easy swap.

Simon (mr. Convoy) has these:

Thank you for the fast reply.
I asked monsieur Convoy time ago about if this fits in the C8 and he told me “no, won’t fit. Only for L series”

I think you have to shorten the middle thing in the rubber button, and then it will fit.

oh, I see.

I am a flashy newbie, and since the C8 is such a very popular model I was expecting a direct replacement.

Thanks!

I believe this is a direct replacement:

Can anyone verify this? I would also like to order a few of these for my c8.
Especially the spring tail braided version.

You need eliminate the internal nipple of the rubber button
I use original board
I change only the switch, desoldering the original and soldering this: http://kaidomain.com/p/S005339.DIY-LED-Flashlight-Forward-Clicky-Switch-12mm-x-12mm-x-12_8mm-for-LED-Flashlight-5pcs

If you use the ones from MTN you must lower the diameter to about 16.5mm

wouldn’t the forward clicky interfere with how we change mode in Convoy C8 since half press is basically on, so changing mode can only be done while in off position.

Normally, yes. However, the OP is using a C8 with Biscotti, and plans to set mode group 12, so it will only have one mode (full power). The one potential problem is if he does many momentary flashes in rapid succession and accidentally gets into configuration mode.

ah yes, didn’t read the OP thoroughly.

Sorry but I don’t see how you made the switch fit on the board? I have the same switch and there’s just no way. The metal pegs on the switch is nowhere close to the original switch.

All my C8 lights have forward switch, they work fine, you just select mode first and then use flashlight…

What switch do you use?

A picture is worth a thousand words

Ah, yes. After I wrote the comment I had to look again. And it was no problem, however it still isn’t possible I’m my host. The height is the issue now. Even if I just screw the retaining ring on the first thread I pushes all the way through the tailcap. Even after I removed the little raised plastic inside it.

Can you send us a link to the place you purchased your switches? Thanks
