Compared to other names FW3A isnāt all that bad. The āBLF tripleā I have seen being used, but that doesnāt do TLF justice.
Elegant triple is good too.
Now the other way around: I know of an American TV-show with Burt Reynolds as Lt. Dan August. On German TV they called him Dan Blocker. When you go to a circus in Germany, there are always clowns. On top of the foodchain is the all white (clothes, make-up) Arlequine and on the other end is āder dumme Augustā. A character like Bozo. Just saying.
Not to mention once there was a car made in Poland that was called something like āyour mother is a ā¦ā in Russia.
Thereās a rumor that āCoca Colaā originally translated to ābite the wax tadpoleā in Japan, until the company realized this and changed it slightly to mean āpleasure in the mouthā.
+1 here!
Not so nice to be ācatchyā, but FW3A can be a distinctive name.
Picking up and adapting contactcr and joechina suggestions and making justice to both: :sunglasses:
BLF: BLitz Fritz + TLF: TripLe Fritz = BlitzTripleFritz (BLF/TLF > BTF)
If using āElegant Tripleā, we would be calling āETā to this light
(BTW, āNOVAā in portuguese is ānewā in the feminin, and in some spanish language countries āno vaā (separated) is the ādonāt goā)
Of course, Iām going to want it in brass, copper, and titanium.
Itās a pretty unusual light with the tail e-switch, and itāll be particularly versatile with that switch and all the features we can pack into the huge 8K ROM.
It looks like a heavily sponsored race car. Do not want.
In addition to the different materials for the FW3A, Iād love the powers that be to offer an 18350 tube and possibly the thought of a larger tube for the 21700 cells that may appear on the horizon.
Also I agree with delusionalās post up above. At this price point, with the size, lumens, UI and cool looks, it really could be the next āitā light. I love my Zebralights and really appreciate the quality they possess, but I donāt know at this stage of the game if Iād buy them again knowing that new and wonderful lights are being created at a fraction of the price.
Thatās true PBW, but the lights we buy today will work just as nicely as they do today, until they go on the fritz, even if other lights have more output or throw, whatever. My problem is that I need to convince myself of that. There was a post over in the Q8 thread that mentioned about Narsil vs the clunky UIs. I think thatās going to be more of an issue for me than performance. After using the Narsil Lite UI in the D4, Iām going to love Narsil in these new BLF lights and I wonāt want to go back to the old UIs.
And well for me FW3A is the name but funny thing, my wife needed an update on what we are doing and her reaction was āFW3A, that is a working title yes?ā And then people started posting about the name lol
joechina, yes, I understand that. But I like the Narsil ramping. Iāll definitely play with the other UI modes, but I doubt that Iāll like them more than ramping. The D4 only has ramping (it also has memory and a double click for turbo) and itās very nice.
This viewpoint seems to be getting more popular. For the most part, lights are already bright enough, already small enough, already have good enough tint and beam qualities and runtimeā¦ so one of the main things which appeals about new lights is the interface.
I could just use the 1xAA ZebraLight I got in 2013. Itāll probably last a hundred years. But the interface seems so clunky compared to the latest projects on BLFā¦
They could also get more efficient but I left that out because itās a minor point unless that results in more light with significantly less heat. Think cold light like a firefly or a Cyalume stick.
