In my Opinion….
Lumintop is a relatively new manufacturer with one product that is a big hit, the Tool. They want another hit.
They’ve gotta be drooling at the even bigger hit that is the BLF-A6, the Greatest Light On the Planet under $50. (again my opinion)…(and it’s far under $50).
The FW3A has the potential to be at least as big a hit as the A6.
If Lumintop can pull this job off with correct quality, it will be a major feather in their cap and put them in the spotlight to stay.
It gives them incentive to do the job right and give the people what they want, and we win too. It’s a WIN for everybody!

My only comment on the light is that the name FW3A is a bit cumbersome. I say it needs a name. Does this sound good? Not TRY… TRI
BLF TRI

FW (guy who designed it I believe) 3 (number of emitters) A (for aluminum, denotes the material used)
I like it, short and to the point. I dont think I have once told anyone make and model of my flashlights in person at least lol

That’s just like shooting fish in a barrel. When something catches on, release versions B, C and T Big Smile

This doesn’t work very well in English. There’s a phrase, “on the fritz”, which means “inoperative” or “malfunctioning” or “not working right now”.

https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/on_the_fritz

It could be almost as unfortunate as when Chevy tried to sell a car called “Nova” in countries where that translates to “no go”. Who wants a car which doesn’t go? Who wants a flashlight with triple malfunction?

Yes will update list later

Compared to other names FW3A isn’t all that bad. The “BLF triple” I have seen being used, but that doesn’t do TLF justice.
Elegant triple is good too.

Now the other way around: I know of an American TV-show with Burt Reynolds as Lt. Dan August. On German TV they called him Dan Blocker. When you go to a circus in Germany, there are always clowns. On top of the foodchain is the all white (clothes, make-up) Arlequine and on the other end is “der dumme August”. A character like Bozo. Just saying.
Not to mention once there was a car made in Poland that was called something like “your mother is a …” in Russia.

I always think long and hard before I say something really stupid.

There’s a rumor that “Coca Cola” originally translated to “bite the wax tadpole” in Japan, until the company realized this and changed it slightly to mean “pleasure in the mouth”.

Oh,I didn’t know that.

Funny, the best german VDSL/Internet Router/Modem all in one connection box is named “Fritz!Box” from AVM.

+1 here!
Not so nice to be “catchy”, but FW3A can be a distinctive name.

Picking up and adapting contactcr and joechina suggestions and making justice to both: Cool
BLF: BLitz Fritz + TLF: TripLe Fritz = BlitzTripleFritz (BLF/TLF > BTF) Glasses

If using “Elegant Triple”, we would be calling “ET” to this light Silly

(BTW, “NOVA” in portuguese is “new” in the feminin, and in some spanish language countries “no va” (separated) is the “don’t go”)

Of course, I’m going to want it in brass, copper, and titanium. Big Smile

It’s a pretty unusual light with the tail e-switch, and it’ll be particularly versatile with that switch and all the features we can pack into the huge 8K ROM.

At least it will not look like this with tons of “literature” :

It looks like a heavily sponsored race car. Do not want.

In addition to the different materials for the FW3A, I’d love the powers that be to offer an 18350 tube and possibly the thought of a larger tube for the 21700 cells that may appear on the horizon.

Also I agree with delusional’s post up above. At this price point, with the size, lumens, UI and cool looks, it really could be the next “it” light. I love my Zebralights and really appreciate the quality they possess, but I don’t know at this stage of the game if I’d buy them again knowing that new and wonderful lights are being created at a fraction of the price.

That’s true PBW, but the lights we buy today will work just as nicely as they do today, until they go on the fritz, even if other lights have more output or throw, whatever. My problem is that I need to convince myself of that. There was a post over in the Q8 thread that mentioned about Narsil vs the clunky UIs. I think that’s going to be more of an issue for me than performance. After using the Narsil Lite UI in the D4, I’m going to love Narsil in these new BLF lights and I won’t want to go back to the old UIs.

Brian,
and with lamps from BLF you can flash different UIs on your lamp.
Read what Toykeeper wrote about FSM firmware.
