Convoy L6... XHP70 Beast!

It’s always good to run what Vinh recommends he knows his lights best! And the wait will be worth it hang in there BUD!!

I have the 70.2 (2) P2-1A, P2-1C and the P2-3B in 4 of my modified lights, Lumintop SD75 Jaxman X6, Convoy L6 and the UTorch UT02

The 70.2 is pretty tough, I had them turn blue at 22-23amps at the hit running 2S2P VTC5A’s in my SD75 modified carrier, but running the VTC5’s just over 20 amps. Running the Lexel T/A Narsil 800SIR FETdriver.

I tested everything I have in my JaxmanX6 2S 404SIRFETDD the IJOY 21700’s hit at just over 21amps down to the Basens and the KeepPowers 15-17amps.

Do you have a clamp on amp meter? It would be interesting to see what your light is pulling with these recommended batteries!!

Comparison:

Good enough for me!

My M2X holster works for the M2X/M3X/U21vn[26650 light] and now the L6vn!

The last thing I want to do is carry a light for 4+ miles. I have CAPO and 3 lights on me every hike. I did not want to put this in a fanny pack or carry it,who cares if the flap does not close!

Maybe in my next life I will acquire the skill and be able to mod my own lights like you guys!

Is it common for the XHP70, XHP70.2 to only halfly light up on its lowest output?

Only 2 dies of my XHP70.2 are lit on the lowest mode, and noticeably dimmer looking on higher modes.

I was getting some faint flickering on the higher modes as well (fresh batteries), but have since not been able to replicate it.

It depends on the driver output at it lowest level. If it’s a very low moonlight, then some of the dies might not light up, but anything above moonlight should be all of them.

Sometimes protected cells can act funny. Both of my KeepPower protected cells did a weird flicker on the stock driver on high mode. I have a video of it. It only did it at 4v and above. Very strange. Using different batteries fixed it.

my friend was asking for some beam shots tonight, figure I share it here too. this is my l6 @ 17A start, after 5mins it is too hot to handle, seriously!

That’s pretty tight focus. Mine looks exsctly the same. Must be a smo reflector.

yes it is with the smo reflector, and dome sliced xhp70.2 with no centering ring

I don’t feel it’s the driver, although maybe. I noticed that the flickering is no longer an issue with the light, but I figure it doesn’t flicker now because the one half of the XHP70 .2 doesn’t light up, while before when it flickered, it was that one half of the LED going in and out.

Even if it’s 1% output or 100% output, I can see only one side of the emitter glow once I power the light off.

Will have to message Vinh about it. He accidentally gave me a tail-switch UI instead of a side-switch UI anyways.

The dies on the xhp70.2 are wired in 2s2p. So if it has been pushed hard and run very hot it’s possible one of those little bonding wires has been damaged and is not getting good contact. That would cause 2 of the dies to not light up or be weaker.

Quick question, would a XHP70.2 be a direct drop-in into my stock L6?

Sure. Just get it on a 20mm DTP mcpcb.

Thanks!

Does Simone sell spare OP reflector for convoy L6?

Not that I know of, but if you ask Simon he may be able to sell you one. You can contact him through his Aliexpress store.

@Tangra If Simon doesn’t sell OP reflectors , send me a PM

ok so can someone link me to some batteries on ebay that work 100% with this light?

The problem with ebay is you never really know what your going to get. Could be legit cells or could be fakes. That’s why no one buys from ebay. Have you checked if Banggood, Gearbest or Fastech can ship cells to Sweden?

Maybe NKON can ship to Sweden too! The prices are not the cheapest ones, but maybe it can help!

sadly neither BG or gearbest ships those batteries to sweden anymore :frowning: i am so doomed lol… i will check nkon thanks.

No, this is a common problem with these new Cree “.2” LEDs. Your’s might be a defective one. A few people had problems with the XHP50.2 when it came it.
