Where to buy good quality 16340 batteries for On The Road M3 Flashlight???

Looks like they only ship to US and Canada only. :frowning:

International Shipping

We currently offer FedEx ground shipping to Canada only. Please note carrier and customs delays are not within our control. The quoted shipping cost is for delivery to the destination address only - the receiver of the package assumes all obligations to pay any applicable duties, fees, or taxes assessed to the order.

If you are outside of US/Canada and would like to place an order, we suggest using a freight forwarder in the US who can arrange for international forwarding and customs clearance on your behalf.

Guys,

Thanks for your inputs so far.

I have gone ahead and ordered the flashlight from GearBest for US$15.99, that does not come with the battery charger and battery.

So now, I am on the hunt for a couple of good 16340 batteries (was thinking of buying 2 different brands for comparison sake??) and will need to know online websites that will ship to Australia.

Banggood sells the Keeppower branded one for US$5.99 shipped, and they will ship this to Australia. What do people think of this?

KeepPower 16340 CR123A 700mAh Protected Rechargeable Li-ion Battery - US$5.99 shipped

KeepPower is a pretty well known brand, but I am just not sure a protected cell like this is a good match for the M3. This cell will not be able to deliver high current, so you will not do your M3 justice if you want to see it shine to its full potential in turbo mode. The M3 is going to want to draw somewhere around 3 Amps of current, and this cell will struggle to deliver that.

M3 has low voltage protection. It’ll shut down the light once voltage drops below 3V, so I don’t feel the need to use protected cells in it. Others may disagree.

Thanks, I definitely want max output from the flashlight, so will strike keeppower off the list.

Here is to hoping someone knows of an online website that has good quality 16340 batteries at good prices, and will ship to Australia. I am probably asking too much!!

Hi, m3 battery is very good, not probe personally lumintop 16340, can be nice.

Hey guys,
Ordered the same light today, without battery and charger.
Chargers i have, but i have no 16340 batteries…
I’m considering trying PKcell, because their 14500 seems to be good and because they’re cheap.

@ ssschen
I’ve been following this thread ’cause I also wanna buy a 16340 flashlight (not sure if Olight S1R, OTR M3 or M1, Klarus Mi1C or Jetbeam E20R) and I also have doubts about the batteries!

On AliExpress I found these from Klarus (700mAh): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2-pcs-Klarus-LiR-16340-700mah-Li-ion-rechargeable-battery-3-7V-2-59Wh-protection-board/32805117726.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.oRa0vF

Also these from Keeppower (700mAh): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/2-pcs-Keeppower-16340-70mah-3-7V-3-59Wh-protected-Li-ion-rechargeable-battery-Original-P1634C/32647828926.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.VWvZJI

I went to HKJ battery comparison test and noticed that they are almost the same, and seem to be better than Olight and Nitecore batteries! I guess both can be shipped to Australia even if you have to pay extra for shipping! Take a look! There are not much in AliExpress that seem to worth be bought, but these are apparently good.

@ Jerommel
Does PKcell have 16340? I’ve just seem some CR123A, non-rechargeable! Gotta take a look!

EDIT: just seen the PKCELL: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4-x-PKCELL-700mAh-16340-CR123A-3-7V-Li-ion-Rechargeable-Battery-For-Flashlights-Torch/32815656784.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.wV3Kbd

I am waiting for a TrustFire IMR16340 3.7V 650mAh Rechargeable Li-ion Battery (2-Pack) to power up a modified Thrunite T20T.

HKJ tested its sibling TrustFire IMR14500 700mAh and it proved to be a good high current cell for the price.

The 16340s should hit 550+mAh and be good for ≈6A without excessive voltage sag.

Cheers (^̮^)

Except Thorfire. Their cells are pretty decent, at least if the genuine product.

5C is actually a bit on the warm side, but quite nice. It’s not as harsh and strident as cool-white light is.

At first, it may appear “yellow” to you, but as you get used to it, cool-white will more and more start looking absolutely hideous.

You want real “incandescent” light, try a 7!

Warmer tints are great indoors, a nice “soft” light, even if scorchingly bright. It’s not jarring, and you don’t feel like you’re being interrogated.

Cooler tints are just a visual kick in the ’nads. Now, to me, they scream “cheap!”, as in cheap crap lights that generally go for cool if not cold tints. It’s that bucket of ice-water on the head feeling that makes people think “cool” == “bright”.

You’ll need high CRI emitters to make warm white look like incandescent light, otherwise it will indeed look yellowish and your skin will look greenish yellow due to the absence of deeper red.

I bought the first OTR M3 for my wife and the 5C was unusable for me (muddy/dim/yellow-brown), the battery on the other hand was great.
I ordered the full pack 1C for myself and it’s a different light entirely. I don’t use the charger butt the battery is fine and what a difference in output.
Bright and usable even on the lowest setting.

1C? Do you mean 1A?

yes, sorry

Anyone know the CRI rating on this M3 5C emitter?

With a B or C, yeah, but A and D are rather nice. I have to squint to see any yellow-green on me.

Totally agree. I have an OTR M3-5C and it is quite yellow to me, but even though I like it to be a bit less yellow, it still beats the cool white Olight S1.

I see myself in a crystal ball installing a 219C in my soon to be received Thrunite T20T Ti right now. (✿´‿`)

I presume the T20T uses 16mm MCPCB, is this right?

(^̮^)

P.S.: put a 219C on that M3. High-CRI guaranteed!

I recently got a Sofirn light that’s got to be 7A or 7D, as it’s quite “incandescent”, and fleshes out reds pretty nicely. At first, I was doubtful, thinking, “Hmmm, is this too yellow?”, but I quickly got used to it, and frankly, it’s now become my nighttime light (ENC??) displacing all my others.

I keep it on moonlight so I don’t blind myself when it’s pitch-black, but even if I kick it up a notch, it’s nowhere near as jarring as cooler lights or even neutral-warm lights (4C).

I don’t go shining it on myself to marvel at my wonderful skin-tones, so even if it’s not high-CRI, I don’t rightly care all that much. I just want to see what’s around, and not trip, fall, and brain myself in the middle of the night.

And a nice warrrrrrrm light is… well, you just gotta try it.

Ha! I’m just playing with that light now, and I gotta tell ya, I’m really liking it. Even full-tilt, it’s not nearly as jarring and strident as my nice 5000K (XP-L) ’502. Damn, I just about blinded myself with that (the ’502) right now.

WW. Definitely WW…

In terms of batteries, looks like these are the only contenders for me. The Lumintop 16340 batteries is very cheap at US$7.99 delivered for two, so I will likely order two. But these are protected cells and I have no idea how much current it can discharge?

Does anyone have experience with the PKCELL batteries???
