I was browsing around the site last night and also noticed the SST-40 page. Look forward to seeing what bins/tints you can get your hands on. I really like the SST-40s I have from somewhere else.
Any chance of stocking the Luxeon V in the future? Maybe even get some DTP boards made for it? Djozz did a test on one using an XP board and the performance and tint look really good.
I’m finding the SST-40 to rock! Gained some 3,000 lumens putting 3 of em in my SupFire M6 over the XM-L2. Sweet, I can live with the color at this point, til they come out with better ones.
That’s 5,000+ lumens bumped to 8,866 lumens. The only thing I changed aside from emitters is that I re-flashed the MCU with TK’s ramping firmware.
30Q...in a week or so. Aspire? Who knows. I placed another order right after we received the last one weeks ago...they seem to take a while to ship. My guess is another week or so.
That C8 host with the SST40 is a really nice light Richard, it really grows on you and I normally don’t like CW’s but this CW seems softer I think it doesn’t seem as hard on my eyes, neutral tints will be very nice in this emitter.
Has anyone tried the Nichia 319AT D440’s 5000K on a Mt. quad in the D4 yet.?
I’m wondering if it will all fit together under the Carclo without any modding or if anyone knows of some unforeseen situations with the D4 and this LED.
Any thoughts on the Luxeon V? Would like to see these become more available as they seem like a great alternative to XP-L2. Biggest drawback right now are DTP boards. XP boards can work, but are right on the edge, and won’t realize full heat dissipation.
I tried the 319 with it’s hexagonal die on Richards Quad board and in the D4, didn’t particularly like the beam profile or tint to be honest. Pulled em out and went with a 4th choice. (yes, I tried XP-G2, 219C, 319, and XP-E2 Green)
Glad to hear you’re getting some samples anyhow! Even to get them reflowed onto XP boards reliably would be great for now, and would at least give an idea of the demand for them before committing to custom boards. I have considered trying to do some myself, but my reflow setup probably isn’t up to the task with how tight they looked in djozz’s pictures.
