I’ll may leave it be at 77-78mm but if it’s 80mm as FT say I’ll grind it down. The genuine Spyderco PITS is 75mm which PC Plod would (or should) be ok with.
I’ve yet to see anything to state beyond doubt that the UK limit of 76.2mm is a measurement of the cutting edge and not blade length - or how either are measured.
I don’t think the length of blade is an issue at all. The cutting edge is legal. In terms of the “flipper”, it will never flip. It is strictly a thumb opening knife or two hand opening. Well worth the price. I have a couple. One in blackwash, one in blue.
Go for it.
When was the last time you were doing anything that may justify the Police asking to search you anyway……
Never had a “flax handle”, but I like the feel of it. It’s got a nice texture, not slippery.
The edge isn’t too sharp right out of the box, so I had to give it a touch-up.
Anyone ever experience a handle like that? Do they hold up over time, or potentially flake/chip/crumble/etc.?
Okay, dumb question…
The sheath comes with a pair of small holes at the end (you can see the pix at the GB link above), and a “shoelace” threaded through it and held together with one of those plastic squeeze’n’slide clamp-thingies on it. The “lace” isn’t very long at all, so if the sheath is hung on your belt, it’s not as if you’d wrap it under and around your thigh like a gunfighter to hold down the sheath in-place. So what’s it for? As far as I can tell, it just, well, dangles.
Fasttech are on the ball lately, my C192 arrived in a record 9 days.
The blade length is 77mm and not the 80mm that FT stated. It came oily - that’s ok and gritty - not ok, it’ll need to be stripped to get all the grinding dust out from washers.
It has a strong slip joint which makes it difficult to open one handed - it certainly cannot be flicked open. No blade play and shaving sharp.
Overall for $12.86 I’m very pleased - especially as it’s UK legal
76.2mm or 3 inches - but is that blade length or the length of the cutting edge which in the case of the C192 is 68mm? Actually, I don’t think anyone knows for sure - even the UK gov website is vague on the issue:
It’s illegal to:
sell a knife to anyone under 18, unless it has a folding blade 3 inches long (7.62 cm) or less
carry a knife in public without good reason, unless it has a folding blade with a cutting edge 3 inches long or less
It actually has a soft “clothy” feel to it. About the only thing I can think of would be those clipboards made of what seemed like compressed cardboard. Ie, it’s not just textured plastic, but actually has a softness to it. I was pleasantly surprised.
I notice the holes on quite many sheaths. No idea what to use it for. The fact that the included lace was so short really threw me.
