Lightest 18350 flashlight?

Hmm. Figured with plastic TIR vs Al reflector, might lighten it up a bit.

Use a lighter cell?

Why the 60g limit, though?

Sorry, I have no scale available.
With 18650 tube it’s 66 grams (+ cell).

Anything more than this, and it becomes impractical when attached to a cap visor for extended walking, in my experience. And I would like more runtime than what a typical 16340 cell allows. 2 hours of runtime at about 300 lumen output would be nice.

I don’t want to use a head strap.

maybe try clipping a raw 18350 to the hat, something tells me the cell alone may also be too heavy…

i don;t think i would like anything over 30 grams for that

maybe you have a different kind of hat

there are also ‘headlamps’, some of them might be adaptable to cap wear
they may, but not always, have batteries via wire, making the head part lighter but adding the annoyance of a wire

wle

56.2g with 18350 tube.
69.1g with 18650 tube.

grey 18350 tube 14.28g

Slight weight variations in my different emitter models and tubes, batteries.
Not sure what the lightest battery would be. Most are listed with ‘in the ballpark’ weights in their specs.

If you use a shorter brim hat, the extra 19g over your spec of 60g weight wont be so bad…? So, don’t be a flat brimmer… lol

Thanks. Based on what was posted above, Aspire 18350 weighs 25g, so that means a D4 with 18350 battery would come in at 81g.

LOL!
Interesting suggestion though. I wasn’t aware that baseball caps come with longer and shorter visors. I’ll have to look into this.

As for the D4 specifically, my main issue with it is the ramping UI. I’d much prefer something that has preset output levels, so that you can gauge battery runtime better.

Yes, my aspire is 25, or more precisely, 24.8. My lightest 18350 is 23g… so that puts it at 79g with my lightest 18350

Here is my setup, I don’t find it uncomfortable at all. Can ramp to the perfect brightness level with a simple hold of the button. For me, ramping headlight, its the perfect setup. At full regulated level the light will go for many many hours and at that level on a dark pathway, seems to be enough light for me. If I need lots more then 2 fast bumps on the button puts out over 4000 lumen. Raccoons run for cover with bleeding eyes…

Jaxman E2L with 18350 tube + Aspire 18350-cell:

More than 60 gr but still pretty lightweight.

allcool, how long is the brim on that hat? I just ordered a hat with a 2” brim to try. I’m pretty sure my current hat has a longer brim, but I’m out of town, so I can’t verify.

my brim might be longer then yours, but by no means is it flat… lol

Thanks. Also, what clip are you using with that D4 shorty?

DC-CLIP-1 from MTN . Cost $1.10. It fits perfect and works for me.
There are some pretty nice clips available, some here have posted $25 for a clip, on a $40 light makes no budget light minded sense to me.

I don’t use the clip for anything but my hat mount on the 18350 shorty. The shorty fits perfect in my jeans little coin pocket like it was meant for it, so to me, the D4 shorty does not need a pocket clip.
The clip does work perfect for the 18650 tube D4.

Thanks. Seems to be discontinued though. Who sells it?

Is that the same as OEM clip that comes with Convoy S2+? I’ve got a few of these sitting around here somewhere.

Not sure if its the oem Convoy clip.
But it fits my s2+ my c8 and D4, perfectly.
Check out MTN, they seem to be back ordered a lot lately since they fit the D4, as with anything that fits that light.

IMO, the D4 might be the best small all purpose light ever engineered, and thats coming from a M E thats got dozens of high priced quality’ lights. And its being improved on all the time. Got to luv guys like Hank that take pride and know how to build us ’real quality innovative mainstream available lights.
Word is the new D4 has an improved star mounting system with screws instead of the typical reflector/bezel press/tension fit. Suppose to be better heat transfer… oh joy more heat to the head/tube…lol

Astrolux E01?

Thanks, but if it weighs 60g empty, then it would be 85g loaded.

Is there an 18350 tube for DQG Tiny 4th by any chance?

Hum…perhaps a Convoy S2+ or a Jaxman 18350 tube? Maybe a owner of a DQG and a shorty tube can provide that info!
Well thought Pete!

Olight h1 the old one without the charging bay is 43 grams with a protected aw 16340. Won’t take an 18mm cell but its one of my lightest little lights and my dedicated headlamp for that reason (also output, color and modes are just awesome). For the weight difference you can just carry a spare cell, two 16340s still beat a single 18350 in capacity.
