Today I also finally received my Q8. It´s a great light so a BIG thanks to the development team.
The little imperfections with mine are of centered LEDs, unequally bright Switch LEDs, the dirty contact ring and a fingerprint on the glass lens.
Nevertheless, it is an awesome flashlight. Especially for this price it is a hell of a deal.
We regret to inform you that we can not ship your order to an address containing “P.O. Box”. Could you please send us your shipping address by filling in the fields listed here below?
Oh the humanity! More delay.
I don’t ever recall a “PO Box” issue before with BG or any other Asian shop. But it sounds like my Q8 is getting closer.
Got the emails from BG last night saying my two Pre Orders were Shipped……
… Which means LABEL CREATED .
Be interesting to see when they really do ship… before or after the upcoming Chinese Holiday. Either way is good. Glad to see how fast TF worked this out.
My Q8 do also have that button LED thing going on, but really it dont bother me one bit, but if it do that one day i will just fix it and be done with it.
I am going to do a little modding on it to amp it up a little more, but i am in no hurry with that, first i will enjoy it as is
I see in the OP it mentions that lube may be required. Can anyone recommend lube suitable for the Q8’s threads, especially products available in Australia? Thanks.
Try applying the tip of a very hot soldering iron to the screw head for about one and a have minutes and then use the Miller’s rubber band technique.
They could have put glue on the threads.
stephenk, I can’t help with Aussie products, but I use a DOW silicone grease that works fine, I think it was The Miller who suggested SuperLube. It’s not the Space Shuttle where it can’t be done wrong or else.
My 3rd and final Q8 (gift for my son) arrived yesterday. After a quick strip-down, clean, lube & reassembly I can report that everything is perfect except for the switch LED's, it has the uneven brightness "problem". I have a feeling he'll want them changing to either blue or white like I'll be doing mine so a non-issue really.
On a side note, I gave my daughter's BF my 2nd Q8, 4 button-top 30q's & a Lii-500 earlier today for his birthday and he was chuffed to bits, he's really impressed.
It really does make for a fantastic gift, many thanks again for all involved in making this concept a reality!
I don’t know that this is available in Australia Sil-Glyde , but you can find it in any auto parts store, here in the US. I read a flashlight article a few years ago, where this was mentioned. I just happened to have some in my toolbox. I haven’t used anything since.
Try a local Ford dealer parts department. This XG-12 electrical grease is supposedly Nyogel 760G repackaged for Ford. 3oz tube was $15 dollars at my local dealer.
