I ordered my first Q8 late on sept 7 when preorder count was already in the 600s. Up to now it was backordered and now it has a āContact customerā statusā¦ except nobody at BG tried to contact me and i get no response to my contact messagesā¦ I fear iām gonna miss on the second batch and will have to wait even longer. Frog!
Anyone have a link to the SuperLube thatās best for our flashlights? Thereās a bunch of types at Home Depot and I wanted to get the correct one.
Actually, if you guys could post links to your lube of choice that would be helpful. I donāt want to be off topic but I bet tons of new Q8 owners (like me) wonāt have a clue what kind of lube to use.
Guess I should lube the rest of my lights, too. My Nitecores are beginning to make a gritty sound when I unscrew them.
Oh dang, I didnāt know there were different kinds.
I read about it on BLF, looked for it on AliExpress but got results quite sexually oriented (LOL)
Looked at Amazon fr and ordered the cheapest.
Just get the SuperLube Synthetic Grease that comes in a tube. Not the oil or spray. It comes in different size tubes.
Iāll get you a picture from HomeDepot & post it in a bit.
I use SuperLube on all my lights. I tried a few more expensive products but canāt tell a dimes worth of difference between them & SuperLube. SuperLube is much more economical for my money and works as well as the ābestā.
This stuff works well. Itās teflon grease. Itās not as thick as Nyogel so it doesnāt artificially add resistance, but Iāve never found that to be an issue. Just clean the threads, slather on some grease, turn it to get everything worked in, then wipe off anything which squeezes out. If it ever gets dirty, repeat.
Another handy tip is get a small syringe from the pharmacy, take the plunger out, fill syringe with SuperLube, & reinstall plunger. It makes a handy dispenser. Add a large gauge needle & you can reach hard to acess areas on other projects also.
If people do not receive shipping email, relax, we slowly see people say their Q8 is shipped or labels printed, just do the good old āorder and forgetā there is not a lot of choice if one wants to keep the blood pressure down
Yes, thatās the thread that peaked my interest also. The OP confirmed it with Nye Chemical so he says. You could PM him and ask. I will say that Ford isnāt in the business of manufacturing Motorcraft oils, or lubricants, so they have to source it from somewhere. I have some Nyogel sitting right here, and comparing the two, I see, feel and smell no difference between the two. They look identical to me.
I've been using a FORD tube of Nyogel for years now. It's on it's very last squeeze. I now remove the cap and dig in with a tool to pull out what I need. It was offered for sale here on BLF by a member a while back, think he got them off of eBay - little older batch but all good.
Iām now re-thinking whether I need (want) the Kronos 70 GB (S70 with higher power driver). Was expecting it to be a quite different animal from the Q8, for throw, but from your shots it seems the Q8 will cover both bases, at least well enough for me, in such a compact package.
PS: were your torches standard, or have you made a few improvements to any ?
More Good Thread Lube Info for inquiring minds.
SuperLube has worked fine for me for years & I will continue using it. For any who might want info on other lubesā¦ hope this helps.
