Q8, PMS SEND TO THOSE WITH ISSUES BLF soda can light

mine are all now marked shipped, but tracking gives no real info

Does double click to turbo work from mode lock-in? If so, or if not, that would be a nice compromise that helps.

edit: If it doesn't already, to the extent this would then be maybe a potential feature, I'd probably make it double click to advance, but either is good.

Mine, ordered Sept, 8th, was ā€˜shippedā€™ā€¦ But I didnā€™t get the tracking number.

Your order number might be your tracking number. Plug it into here: Flyt Express Tracking - AfterShip

Well, the number appeared after 3 hours  Going via Turkey post.

Thank you for taking the time to check it on your 3 protos.
I checked mine in room light.

The timing is perfect for me. Out of the box, no problem to turn it ON or OFF like expected. The only timing that was a bit picky at first was to turn OFF the light switch = too short between the two clicks (first to turn ON, 2nd to turn OFF the Q8 and the light switch) turns the Q8 into turbo.
But once you get it right by trials and errors, itā€™s not hard to remember the right timing.

Your Narsil UI is really growing on me and Iā€™m starting to really appreciate it, but as Iā€™m really got used to flashlights with fixed modes that are more predictable concerning runtime, I would appreciate a Narsil modification in ramping mode to always turn it ON at 100% 7135 and 0% FET, without memory.
An option to reverse the ramping in the configuration UI settings would be awesome. With 100% 7135, to preserve your vision adapted to this brightness, I would prefer to go a bit lower first with a click & hold, and have the option to go higher with a short click & hold followed by another click & hold.
:: Setting # : 1 :: Function : ramping mode :: Clicks : 1=disable, 2=enable, 3=reverse ::

yesterday I ordered my third Q8, today it is already shipped.
very strange.

Just relax, donā€™t get sucked into checking shipping status, it really does not make it come faster, but it will make it feel a lot slower f you or anybody does it.
Wait a few weeks and by the time you want to check it they have arrived

D4 firmware is based on Narsil, first written by Tom, then TK worked on it, they are not the same so do not expect them to behave the same

Tom got you covered already, the use is dead simple and if your wife wants only a few modes and is used to click to switch modes, set it up ike that once and be done with it. Ramping is so intuitive you probably will not need to (but remember the first time somebody uses it they may invoke config and doing some random clicks there may change settings, not bad, but well good to know. So in our first day of playing with it, keep that manual at hand and set it up how you want, there is no need for new firmware, almost everything can be set up to personal or spouses taste

Yeah sorry that is me, the hold yurs till you report your arm is not longer in pain so we know modding of them will not hurt you  (kidding)

Keep an eye out, and report if they do go off please, so I can add you to the OP list.
No exact reason, still thinking it is a combination of 3 things
1 some poor soldering or not enough flux like stuff used
2 unmatched LEDs
3 resistor issues
When all three are present and over a not clear threshold the switch leds stop working after a day, maybe the heat and microscopic epansion and shrinking puses the switch assembly just over the edge.

Cool to read more movement, but please I cant say enough, order and forget is the best thing to do

Oh and about moon setting 1
come on, meybo one doesnā€™t use it (nobody forces you to) it is very cool to set it up at 1 and just see the LEDs fainly shine. A moon or low mode that is too bright seems like a point of real annoyance, but LOL being able to set up a moon so faint as in the Q8 is just flipping awesome, lumens Q8: from 0.01 all the way up to 5000 to 6000, just plain cool, and then after seeing it, just make it 2 or 3 and have 0.1 as moon.

My Q8 ordered around #1040 Preorders was shipped.
Ether they produced more than 500 in the second batch or there were some order cancelations.

@Alex, an easy and cheap source for 0603 leds is Fasttech:

Yepā€¦. the journey of your Q8 has definately began David. Next stop will be Hong Kongā€¦.

Rememberā€¦ pay no attention to what FedEx Tracking says at this point. Nothing will show on it until they have actually received the package in hand. And even then mine have not been 100%.

BUT 17Track has been 100% right to my mailbox.

Below is what one of my PreOrders shows a few minutes ago ā€¦. So these bad boys, as well as yours; are definatly on the move.

Iā€™m resisting the urge to keep checking tracking. Itā€™ll save me a few grey hairs.

It says that my two lights should arrive by October 22nd and Iā€™m hoping Iā€™ll be pleasantly surprised if it takes less than three weeks.

Regardless, itā€™ll be fun blasting mischievous trick-or-treaters up to no good with a double-fisted wall of light!

ā€œDrop the eggs and toilet paper and get the heck out of my yard!ā€ :smiling_imp:

Oh, and a request: Iā€™d love to see a side-by-side comparison of a Q8 from the first batch and one from the next. Just curious about the subtle changes they are making after the halt.

I got my Q8 today. Very solid and awesome light for this price. Just cleaned some dust (there was very little of it) and drilled screw holes a little bigger. Threads where lubed, but adding a little extra is always a good idea. Basically perfect light right out of the box.

Big thanks to hole team! I might order couple more as a gift. ;)

Got no hairs to spare  ā€¦ I ordered, got shipping notification,Iā€™ll check the PO box couple of times a week for the next few weeks.

Ramping and mode set operation are completely different UI's. A multi click sequence in mode sets would get confused with fast single clicks, so it's avoided. Ramping is all about press&hold or single clicks so 2X and more fast clicks is not so easily confused, unless you wanted to very quickly do ON/OFF's or OFF/ON's and make up your own strobe or something.

Q8 s on the move from Banggood. I ordered 9/7, shipped 9/29. Thanks to the BLF team that made this possible!

Yeah! Mine is shipping!

Just a tip on how one can make Q8 a little bit more comfortable to use. The underside area where you hold index finger can feel a bit sharp when operating the flashlight. If the 3 furthest fins had stopped halfway only to go half the circumferences, that underside area would be smoother. Olight Sr Mini Intimitator seems to be designed that way. The cooling fins stop there to make a smooth area.

As a quick fix for that I used a 17 cm long x 2.5 cm wide strip of Gorilla tape.
