Rating: GoodLuckBuy.com [AVOID]

Dang good thing that you caught it......not good at all.

My order was ID 4683, the person in Japan's order ID was 4685. There is no excuse for my being able to see this person's details though.

If they don't fix this quickly there is a huge problem.

As in, DO NOT order anything from these guys until you hear otherwise. Minus about three million stars till this is sorted.

Yikes! Description updated. Thanks for the heads-up.

Got an email from them saying this was fixed. It isn't.

No explanation or anything else, just an email from Paypal saying a refund had arrived. Whether this was because they couldn't supply the order or what I've no idea.

the name of the shop alone scares me off already.

LOL, i can agree.

My experience with them so far:

I've made two orders that were shipped within 5 days of placing the order and arrived within 3-4 weeks after shipments.

They were small ones (silicone grease, rare earth magnets, cheap uv "detector") and everything I ordered was received.

I now ordered a multimeter and an AC tester with a tracking number, but although it was shipped the customer support says they did not get the tracking number from the post company. They said they'll resend the order, to which I responded that it was only a week since shipment and the package may still arrive, but they insisted on sending another one. Never had that happen before, I'm not sure if I like it or not.

Anyway, I'll have to wait and see how it goes.

About the store in general:

They have a huge variety of products, some are unique to them (in the eBay/Chinese/HK online stores market, at least).

Many electronic parts (resistors, capacitors, IC, etc.) and many electronic devices (like drivers, signal generators), o-rings of many sizes, many many kinds of multimeters (UNI-T, Mastech, Minipa, Vichy and more higher end Chinese makers) and oscilloscopes (Atten, Rigol, UNI-T, etc.), all kinds of DIY gear (soldering stations, plastic boxes for parts, other equipment) and generally just about anything you'd need for DIY projects.

They also have a large variety of flashlights, but this is not their strong point - older models, high prices.

Product descriptions:

They have good descriptions for their products, seem to cover all interesting specs for most of the products.

Customer service:

Their support system is not very responsive.

Two emails I've sent went unanswered in the last week (regarding the tracking number issue), and I needed two chats with the live MSN Messenger representative to get the answer "we didn't receive the tracking number at all".

But they do give answers eventually.

Prices:

Generally they're not the cheapest (although many times they are, compared using NGshopping and eBay), but not very far from being ones.

Flashlights prices are unusually high (e.g. a "DX C30" costs about 17$ while most stores sell it for 10$ or less).

Coupons/sales/bonuses:

They don't have any working coupons to the best of my knowledge and I haven't seen any sale yet.

Some items have a 1% discount, so not much here either.

Bulk rates are about 4% discount for 5 items, 7% for 20, 9% for 50, 11% for 100+. Not great either.

They have a points system where you get a point for every ~10$ you buy, but can also get free points by a luck draw where you can get 1,2,10,50 or 1000 points depending on the numbers you get from a random number generator. A point is worth ~0.10$, and the luck draw is free to use, so it's worth using it every day whether you intend to buy or not. I already saved a couple bucks with that.

Regarding the customer details exposure that Don witnessed:

I haven't witnessed any mixup in customer data as Don has reported above. I tried to watch other orders (input another order number in the URL) but couldn't see any other than my own, so maybe they fixed this glitch. However, they do expose the customers names and place of living and how many points they won in the luck draw results, but this is not connected to any account.

Summary:

I'm very pleased by the variety of items, prices are good, customer service is good when they respond.

This looks like it could be one of my favourite stores.

I've had VERY bad experience with glb and would like to see a big "AVOID" here! A bad experience which cannot be explained by language barrier/stupidity but only by a really bad, criminal business mindset.

Short story: I ordered three knives and I received two of them 3-4 weeks later. My order was shown as "partial shipped", so it was ok for me, I was expecting it to be shipped later. Unfortunately that never happened. In the following weeks and months I contacted them about 40-50 times (yes, I was really bugging them) through all channels I could find (contact form, skype, various email adresses). Meanwhile the missing knife was marked as "out of stock" so I asked them to send another sku with the exact same price or to refund me the amount. Most times they didn't even bother to reply, and in Skype they cutoff communication when they realised it was an after sales problem.

One of the very few replies was this (the whole issue is about $8 btw):

Dear Sir,

Thanks for your mail. We're sorry for the confusion. We can send it to you.But you need to 10 usd shipping fee.

What do you think of it?Thank you.

Best regards!

My initial order is now 5 months ago. The order is still marked as "partial shipped".

I will never ever place an order with them again.

Why didn't you use the PayPal dispute method with this issue?

I did not expect a problem like this. I was thinking they will eventually send it, just like DX etc. do it. When I realised the stink the 45 days had passed.

That's a paradox, isn't it?

It doesn't matter what seller you're dealing with.

If stuff doesn't arrive within 45 days, I have no sentiments for the seller, and anyway this is just giving me another 3 weeks before I need to raise my dispute to a claim.

Kind of. :)

Shipping was fast but dont have a quality problem with the goods! This supplier fails to communicate and refund promises are not kept. This resulted in going beyond the 45 day limit.

Two other orders resulted in paypal disputes which were escalated to claims as he just does not respond. One is still pending the other resolved in my favour.

His "100% satisfaction guarantee " has proven worthless.

J) You need a lot of good luck to buy from here!!!

I think I understood why they don't always answer my mails...

They didn't answer any of the messages I sent using the "send messaeg" (sic) method.

But they did answer (very quickly) all my mails to the address shenzhenhaoyun@126.com from which their receipts arrive, and they also answer using the live msn messenger chat.

So maybe just a problem with the "send messaeg" system.

No, it's not a technical thing, at least it wasn't for me. I used all channels I could find to contact them (above email amongst them). Sometimes they did respond, but only to ask me to pay for an order I already paid for (see above). They cutoff communication (mail and chat!) once I made clear that I wasn't going to pay a single cent again. And just for the record, I was polite all the time, even though I felt angry.

I really have to stress that my experience with glb after sales service can only be explained by a criminal mindset.

End of the story: Today I received two identical packages from GoodLuckBuy, both containing the correct items (VC921, UT12B), both sent using registered mail, the first was sent 3 days after I made my purchase, the second 2 days after my chat with GLB's representative, all items work as expected.

All in all, great service in my experience.

GoodLuckBuy's website has been down for a few days now. I usually visit their site once a day to get free points.

I think it might be down due to a denial-of-service attack. I hope it's temporary because I miss my free points!

EDIT: Sometimes their home page is up, but their "Free GL points" page hasn't worked for a while.

They've been mostly down the last few days, but they've also been up for a few minutes each day.

They've even added some new items in these up times.

Probably a DoS attack as you've suggested.

They are back up, I hope they solved the problem.

The points page is also up and functioning (but I didn't get any points this time... :( ).
