Hey guys, a bit more magic done on this today Wink

First I rounded off the front plate window as good as I could get it by hand then sanded and polished the front & back copper face plates. Note to self - Don't mark the lines so deep next time Facepalm Tired

Next up I had to take 0.5mm off the bottom of the quad MCPCB and optic legs so they fit under the glass nice n snug when assembled. I used 600 grit wet & dry silicone carbide sandpaper to first sand down the board using an old optic on top, continually checking the depth in the light. Once I was happy with that I put the optic I will be using into the MCPCB and gently sanded down the protruding legs then finally flipped the sandpaper over, put on some metal polish and shined it up some.

I got the switches installed and the wiring in place for the quad and UV array. I measured out the position for the quad then flowed the emitters & jumpers onto the board using a butane jet lighter and long nosed pliers to hold the board while heating then fixed in place, soldered the wires & gave it a quick test Thumbs Up

I then wired up the UV array which is potted now with cyan GITD tape on top, although it is not fixed in place yet and gave all systems a preliminary test Thumbs Up

I agree Don. There would be no hope at all of me making something like this work. My thumbs are to big. Smile

Got the 34mm x 2mm ARC front glass installed with some B7000 glue and attached the front and back plates with felt and kapton tape in the appropriate places on the covers.

Still waiting on some brass screws and have some sanding & tidying up to do but we're getting closer now Smile

The bottom centre picture shows the lights next to a credit sized card.

If anyone wants to be dazzled open the images up in new tabs and have a look at them in their original size. The finish and detail is amazing especially for the size of these lights. The whole build is simply orsm from start to finish. Well done CRX. Smile

Well done mate ! Truly a piece of art, as always !
I love the tiny one, but the bigger one is such intricate design that I would vote for it !

I figured the SL needed a protective/ carry case for clipping to a belt etc or be able to hang from a neck chain so I made this today from an old leather wallet I had.

I cut the leather to size and hand stitched the sides with 0.25mm dyneema line.

There is a kydex backing which I tapped for the M3 clip bolts and I used an old clear plastic aftershave package covering to stick on the inside with 3M double sided tape for the window so the light can be operational while carried but also help protect the glass of the light. There are felt strips to protect the finish from scratches.

The kydex and plastic help to add rigidity to the thin leather.

The light slides very snug in the case as I had the leather turned inside out and stitched with the light inside then reversed, the clip is from a Kershaw knife, due to the design of the clip it looks off centre but is central where a belt would be.

Showing the light working on low mode inside the leather pouch.

Using the neck chain.

Any Iron Man fans here?  Big Smile

Couldn't help myself putting the light inside my t-shirt there LOL  Facepalm

It's a bit rough but I am quite happy with how it turned out  Smile

Thanks mate, not quite finished yet. I got the brass screws fixed in to the copper plates yesterday, took ages countersinking them to the correct depth as I had to keep removing and replacing them individually to get it right without making too much of a mess of it.

Today I got the electronics potted, arctic thermal grease and sealant applied with a piece of diffuser film over the optic.

All I have left to do is sand around the edges and polish it up... again... Smile Will post pictures of that later Thumbs Up

This was the reason why I asked, I saw the picture before and thought that they were probably missing somewhere! And I imagine how hard that might have been Facepalm
But, it’s almost done, and it surely is a really gorgeous flashlight Thumbs Up
Hopefully we’ll see it soon! Keep it up, Iron Man Big Smile

Very cool love the copper, GITD, and UV to charge it up. This light screams keeping it away from airport security.

I used some ferric chloride to etch in my username on the back of the light today.

I marked out the letter spacing then using a black pentel marker and tape created the letters.

The etching process took about one hour whereby I applied new fluid and agitated every ten minutes.

This has left a fairly shallow subtle etch which doesn't stand out too much Thumbs Up

I already noticed your attention to details, here all 8 screws are “aligned” symmetrically at 45°. Wink
