For the "Macho" Look - I never knew this existed! I gather that some Police Departments have actually banned this device - must be an image issue. Anyway, I wouldn't want to have to lug something so huge (not to mention it's wimpy performance as a flashlight).

http://www.amazon.com/MAGLITE-S6D016-Heavy-Duty-Flashlight-Black/dp/B000056BME/ref=sr_1_75?ie=UTF8&qid=1327819800&sr=8-75

I'm actually tempted to get one so that people can see how it underperforms an RC-29 or even a Sipik 68. Might be educational - and it would be fun to see the look on people's faces after the demonstration.

Police Departments didn't ban them due to any image issue... More like some cops were beating the crap out of people using them. Sometimes beat to death with them. Two cops convicted of murder.

I've actually spoken to a local cop around here about lights. He carry's a 4D maglight on his side, I showed him how much brighter the LED stuff is, and he told me he carry's his mag light as a weapon , and he went on to elaborate some more about how he "beat someone over the head with it" a few days ago.

Makes me sick every time I see police violating our rights and beating on citizens.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are many good police. Problem is that the job naturally attracts those seeking a power trip & the police force often seems to protect insane cops instead of bringing them to justice.

Looxie bluetooth headset camera. Zion eyez BT/wifi camera glasses. Time to turn the cameras around, sousveillance.

I've got a dash mounted camera in my Jeep just in case I get pulled over. My wife and I also have qik.com live streaming setup on our iphone 4's . Be assured, I will be recording ALL police encounters for MY safety.

6D looks like a p*mp stick instead of a macho look to me.

In the UK we also have Police Community Support Officers that are not real Police but are dressed like them. Their job is supposed to be patrol and report, etc. They have no powers of arrest above those of any other citizen (i.e. they can make a citizens arrest). They are not allowed to carry a truncheon/nightstick as a real Police Officer can. But most carry a torch for patrolling. For some reason its always a big multi-cell Maglite.........

I know my TK70 feels like it could crush a skull.

Anything can be used as a weapon, and if it can cause serious harm or death could be classified as a deadly weapon.

Good thing to have with you...

These things get me sad and angry, police should be a noble servant for law :|

Wow they still make those. Haven't seen one for sale in years. Back in the early 90's someone gave me one. Just dug it out and took a snap shot. It's huge. Light isn't worth a darn on it and it feels like an ACME brick in your hand. I had to go dig it out after seeing this. Brought back some memories but certainly shows how technology has advanced. If you look real close you will see a Maratac right in front of it that blows it out of the water for brightness.

I modded one of these for my friend with a DX XML drop-in. He loves it since he can still use 6D's since it falls within the drop-in's voltage range.

Not as macho, but almost.

The small Sipik SK68 (2nd from the left) on 1x 14500 beats the Maglite 5D light-wise.

Mag beats everything else that needs beating.

I used to keep my 5D in my car beside the driver's seat. Luckily I used it only as a light.

I haven't had D batteries for a few years now. Such a shame that it's standing near my desk doing nothing for that same number of years.

Although, I must say, it IS quite impressive when I hold it.

I'm now thinking a 6x32650 for 22 Volts x 7500 mAh Just wondering about the quad SST-90 drop-in for it.

6x32650 is too big compared to a regular D. You could fit 5x32650 in a 6D host, plus some dummy extender.

Also, the amount of heat SST-90 would generate is too extreme for a stock head. That would require some serious modding, or probably a completely new head.
