LG high CRI LED E2L flashlight-maybe this LED is unknow to everyone..

Actually the newer Cree LEDs (XHP-50, XHP-70, XP-G3, XP-L2, XHP50.2, XHP70.2) with 90CRI are just as good as the R9050 Nichias in this regard. I have lights with both and measurements from others have shown this as well (Maukka for example, see here).
Of course the Nichias have better tints though.

dont think you are right
219b can have 90+ R9, still unbeatable for any crees.

I wrote R9050 Nichias. ;)

The 219Bs are very inefficient and have a low maximum lumens output. The current 219Cs are not available with R9080, only R9050. Also they don't offer an XP-L2 sized LED. That is why this LG is so interesting.

There is also the question of what we actually need. A R9 value of >=50 is already very good. It makes all the diffference in the world compared to LEDs of the past.

I find that R9080 Nichias make the R9050 Nichias look like Cree…
You notice this especially on human skin.

I know, I know. But outside the difference is not as pronounced. Depends on the application.

That’s true.
It’s not always that important.

I know sample size = 1, but I have a high CRI XP-G3 and find it very ugly. Yes the CRI is there, you can tell it if you look for it, but I’m so distracted by how green it is that I have to really try to see the nice color rendering.

It seems to vary. I have 4000K 90CRI XP-L2’s that are as green as you describe, while the 80CRI variant of the same led has a great tint. The 3000K 90CRI XM-L2 leds that KD sells again have a wonderful tint.

I have several CRI80 and 90+ XHP50/70 and none of them look as good as the Nichias because of green or yellowish muddy tint.

I have some 80 CRI 3000k XP-L2 which aren’t too bad, lots of pink in the tint. But the 80 CRI 3000k XP-G3 looks fairly green. I’m sure there are good new generation Cree chips out there, but it seems a bit of a lottery right now.

The only amazing Cree I’ve seen so far is the 4800K XM-L2 EasyWhite (quad die) in the ZL H600Fd Mk3. Even if it is CRI 84 R9 19. The frosted lens makes wonders.

This is going off-topic, but I recommend shaving or de-doming the first generation high-cri XHP-50 and XHP-70s. It noticeably reduces the yellow corona and spot. The tint becomes much more even.

When will you find the time?

Yep, it helps a lot for the tint shift and even makes the tint better on some emitters but I haven’t been able to get the tint just perfect. The best one and the only one I would call neutral is a shaved 5000K XHP70 CRI90 in a K60. Beam.

Thanks for replies.
Yes, I know about R9 specifications, but I didn’t know, that Cree has so bad tints

Unfortunately, triples are too floody for me, so the E2L is off the menu.

Any chance of getting this LED into an M2?

That would probably be a unique light in the marketplace, because 5000K and 90 CRI in a cost-effective AA light are very hard to find. Zanflare might be thinking about one, but they’ve gone quiet lately, and the only other option I can think of would be a much more expensive Eagletac.

There are some:

Raylight Pineapple Brass 1xAA with Nichia 219C 4000K R9050

Zebralight SC64c with XP-L2 4000K 90CRI

The Zebra is not cheap though.

I have that same H600Fd III. It’s wonderful

maukka, do you have any measurements for the new LG leds in the Jaxman E2L? still deciding whether to get the warm white nichias or the neutral LGs in the Jaxman e2l but i wouldn’t decide until the numbers are out from maukka  .

Should get the LG today or tomorrow.

The real question is how will they act in direct drive
Curious to see the numbers as well
