Got my MF01 today. It works perfectly. Was happily surprised that it uses high CRI (>90) 219Cs. I thought it used the standard CRI80 219C 5000K. The tint is absolutely beautiful, no shift to speak of and no other anomalies. The UI is quite the step up from the disaster that was the S42. All in all a superb light for the GB price! Some PWM (or other flickering) evident on a cellphone camera on all modes except low but not visible to the eye. Didn’t have time to scope that out yet. Output is no…

If they changed to a lower CRI and is proven in testing they will take a big hit on their reputations as a brand. So I don’t think they would cheap out. It’s too big or the risks. If they raised the price (which they did) and cheap out on us I would never buy their their product again if that happens. And it doesn’t take long for people to find out….

Just courious why Banggood/Astrolux don’t specify this on the site. Bit short on trust these days and published specs leave a lot of leeway. Will wait until someone can confirm that these second batch are 90+ CRI 219C’s as well. One light shipped to a known excellent reviewer does not a whole production make.

Uneven brightness issue for 3-4 members in BLF. Banggood will send a replacement after they ship back their faulty one.

Updated driver in 2nd batch will address to this issue. LED wiring will be changed to 3P6S according to them.

It was 3P-2S3P, so 6V for the two leds in series, with 8.4V input voltage.
Now they’re saying they’re changing to 3P6S? You need a different (boost) driver or not?

How uneven does it need to be in order to qualify for a replacement? I do love my MF-01 and will be ordering a second one in the next few days, and the differences between the brightness levels aren’t as pronounced as what I’ve seen with some others. But the problem seems to have got slightly worse over time, and I’m worried that this fault might turn into something more severe, especially as I like using my lights as candles.

Since I’ll be having a backup fairly soon, I don’t mind sending back the head for one that works correctly. What should I do - get in touch with BG CS?

^ The beam is just amazing for everyday use like walking the dog. But a big disadvantage of the MF01 is mode spacing. With the 219 you get something like 5-ish lumen, then 700-ish lumen and nothing in between. This bums, as something like 50~100 lumen would be great. This is also where the M43 and MK34 shine; mode spacing is just awesome.

If indeed changed to banks of 6 LEDS in series, with a boost converter (or one converter per bank), that could be very interesting.

If well regulated it could be superior to the existing buck converters (running 2S LEDs from 2S cells), once battery voltage drops. Less loss in LED wiring and MCPCB traces too.

If it was down to me, I’d also arrange one bank to be the inner circle of 6 LEDs, and switch off the other two banks at lower levels. That would eliminate problems of uneven illumination of banks, and allow finer control of lower light levels.

Fingers crossed for something along these lines, rather than just a minor tweak. Should soon know.

A boost driver for constant output is the number one thing I’d like to see changed. However, I just don’t see this happening…

Guess mine counts as extremely ‘uneven brightness’ - one bank always 100%, can’t be turned off at all (have to unscrew the tail or head).

By the way, Chinese holidays ended already? because I still don’t have any response from BG. And after that, it will be waiting for the light to be shipped back, then shipped again to me…
disappointing a little.
