Convoy S2+ 18350 question

Getting ready to buy my first Convoy. Looking at the S2+ 18350 but would like some help with battery choice. I wad thinking about a Efest IMR purple but thought I read somewhere that they were a tight fit. Also, as somewhat new to the hobby, not sure about the button top thing. Does it matter?
Thanks.

I’d probably set an aspire 18350.
RMM /Mountain electronics has them, I think they have more capacity and are about the same price .If it’s not an fet driver.pocket rocket I wouldn’t run an efest

Thank you.
Does the button thing matter?

Why not just buy the convoy that takes 1 18650 instead? the battery lasts longer.

It does not matter. Convoy S2+ has a spring near the head, which means both flat top and button top batteries will work.

Is there a particular reason you want the 18350 version of S2+?

Not really. Just think it is cute. Don’t even need it

I hear ya. I’m itching to get an 18350 tube for my S2+ DT as well, just to have an excuse to buy some Aspire 18350 cells.

If you’re buying a light to use 18350 cells, there’s only one really good choice of cell: The Aspire 18350. It’s head and shoulders above all the rest. It produces higher outputs and has something like 60% more capacity than the next best.

Thanks. I had been reading about it and actually bought one. I have it but still waiting for the Convoy. Should be here soon.

a have s2+ that takes 18350, i use red efest that i got from ME. i carry it everyday at work, it is clipped to my leatherman holster. i use the clip i got from ME as well, the one that uses nuts and bolts, not the spring clip,

you do need imr cells, cuz 18350 are around 800mah, with 2,8-3A driver, the battery needs to put out 3A that is more than 3C not something regular li ions can reliably do, they are only good for 2c discharge.

My enercig 18350’s produce a bit more lumenoutput than the aspires and are cheap, but if you take runtime into account the aspires are indeed head and shoulders above.

Finally got every thing. Sweet combo and the Aspire works very well.
