*BLF LT1 Lantern Project) (updated Nov,17,2020)

Just noticed this. Interested.

Interested.

I’m interested.
Many Thanks

This looks great…good work.

A lamp that you can use with solarcharger and also charge a cellphone. We should not set the bar to high…lets start with charging abilities and interchangeable batteries. If you can have 4*18650 lantern with charging and decent light its better than anything I have seen before.

I hope this its the future !

I’m interested depending on price. Thanks.

Does the BLF Lantern “team” (if it exists as such yet) have the expertise to make a custom PCB incorporating the USB charge circuit (TP4056 or TP5000)?

And the same question for the USB out (powerbank) circuit, if that feature is green-lit?

If the answer is “no”, then will that impact which manufacturer could be selected? (Since several manufacturers have begun building lights with these features and would be able to assist with this aspect).

Im in for one depending on cost maybe two.

Very interested

Awesome work

I built in charging port is planned

From the Q8 thread:

Another thought about the tailcap, possibly a wire bail, or “D” ring for hanging this lantern.
I apologize if this has been mentioned in a previous post as I have not read though all the posts of this thread.

If possible we may add two lanyard holes on the base as well as the top.

Well I am still going from the Q8 so that is where my things come from
The Q8 had two flats on the head, for switch and tripod mount.
Then it has two rows of cut outs, anti roll and for looks.

I really thing we ought to go with four flats
1 switch
1 opposite switch USB ports with rubber flat secured using tripod mount.
And at 3 and 9 o’clock also tripod mounts
Giving it 4 tripod holes
The two on the side seem ideal to put those nuts in with a sturdy piece of paracord to hang it for example.
But of course it is up to DBSAR

I’m definitely interested, I’ve been idly pining for a good high CRI lantern for a while. Tripod hole or not, this is shaping up to be awesome.

I’m interested as well. Thanks!

Yeah that will work, lighter weight too!

The switch and port locations sound good to me. Tripod holes can be added to the sides too if no prob for other mounting options, but definitely one on the bottom ( as with a lantern they work best when right side up, as they emit most all their light 360 degrees around the sides & none upward. (as standing the lantern on a high tripod outdoors would work quite well as a great area lamp. ( even one in the center of the top has uses, for hanging attachments, etc. Being able to hang the lantern right side up or even upside down is a great option to have.

Very interested.
If it’s anywhere as good as the BLF Q8 I will be thrilled.

Please add me to the list

Ty

Updates: October,23,2017 Solar charger testing over the last week or so has been a great success. I used my new Eceen 10-Watt USB folding solar charger to charge the lantern each day after using it each night. After running the lantern on High-mode for 4+ hours each night, the 10-watt Solar charger recharged the lantern to full each day, ( back to 4.18 ~ 4.20 volts each time) after every night running. (voltage of the cells after the uses varied between 3.5 to 3.7 volts) only one day was cloudy the whole day, thus not giving the lantern a full charge, but did top it up to 3.97 volts. This means the lantern can be run indefinitely as an off-grid light source with a minimum of a 10 watt solar charger each day.

* An interest list has been started in the OP, and will be updated over time as soon as both the Miller & I can go through the topic to collect names of those interested.*
