If it’s P60 then what would the retaining ring be for?

If it was a driver retaining ring, then the driver would block access to the threads, making the head impossible to connect with the body.

I thought that it was a bezel and not a retaining ring

Maybe we’re looking at the business end of the head? Maybe it’s a lantern conversion?

That is amazing. Is onboard charging still supported with that setup?

And I need to fix the heat transfer with mine. It remains distressingly cool to the touch even on turbo, which I think just means the inside is broiling itself. That foil looks like a good idea.

And one more thing to mention.
I dont think that copper washers under springs is good idea. All this sandwich would probably flow to sides while soldering. I have another decision for short cells – positive driver ring with extended height.

Q8 parts progress:
Extended height positive driver rings – will be ready soon.
1.5mm thick brass tail board – machining will be ready in a month. Searching proper way for some coating that will protect board from extra solder and specify place where springs should be placed. No simple ways to do this. Sad
12x led kit – does anyone need it when MF-01 is available? – aluminium sample #1 will be ready soon, aluminium sample #2 in work, thinking about copper version, thinking about optics holder (upper part) coating, trit slots etc.

A 12x mcpcb? That’d be great if it only requires one pair of wires, and if it’s direct thermal path like Noctigon mcpcb’s. Obviously copper is preferred, but I’d be okay with aluminum if it’s thick and direct thermal path.

The low mode should be lower.

No, just regular 4× 3xp boards.
Hank wants $18 for one bare m43 pcb, boost driver could probably cost $30 and this two parts would make Q8 mod too expensive.
In my opinion, four single-die leds is little less than 4x high-drain cells with Q8 driver can feed. So my kit (if it will be ever made) will be defenetly made to use with stock driver.

Any ideas?
I can try to order most cheap thin fr4 boards (same size as tail pcb but with holes at spring base places), so customer would be able to use it as pattern while soldering springs. But this will increase cost by few $.
Another way, I will make a more solid template to be able to solder springs myself. But I still dont see proper source to order them.

Yeah, it would certainly be a nice mod but it will still be a fairly expensive one once everything is added up (MCPCBs, LEDs, your parts, optics). I would not go for copper as the Q8 is already quite heavy but perhaps others would.

No use for a tail PCB as I’ve bypassed it directly to the tube. So it’s only a spring holder now with no electrical purpose.

First one who will recognize what is this will recieve one (ready one of course). If is not neccessary to recognize flashlight model, just say what part is this and why it can be useful.

All tips were given in this post.

Kiriba, do you happen to have a spacer for a Convoy M1 Quad?

Something like Dale made HERE

I would love to build a quad M1 !

I have made very limited quantity of M1 quad sets. 15 or 20pcs. They were made to fit Khatod optics because some members wanted to test it and I had to choose one host for it. All were sold in the beginning of this year. This is very unpopular mod, sorry, Im not going to make them anymore.
I could probably found some suitable spacer in my stocks, but main part (in difference with Dale’s mods) of my quad kit is ring that holds optics (and allows to make spacer shorter and shelf surface smoother). Now I even dont have material to make it (ring).
The only thing I can offer – I still have several M2 kits and various VG10 kits (all for Carclo optics).

I don’t see those in your OP. Any details about the M2 kits? Copper or alu? Do they also have an optic retaining ring or push it flush against the lens? Or do they fit for use without the lens? I think the diameter of the M2 is about right for that.

That’s quite the chunk Big Smile How much do they sell for? Are those rings wide enough to hold the optic without a lens or are they meant to be used with the lens only?

No.

Im not against if this lottery will take longer than I expexted (most future projects are paused cause small demand for stocked parts), so I dont give tips that can make guess easy.
I just want to say that chances will raise if you will use collective brain. All interested supposes mentioned in thread went this way. Amount of information that was already given is more than enough to make right conclutions.

I’m guessing its a drop in. The area for the optic has yet to be machined out. It would be useful to swap assembled pills quickly.
