Imalent DX80 32000 lumen monster

Because I’m special, and it could never happen to me…………… :innocent:

I cut the cord of the original charger that blew and used it to check the current draw while charging.
1.91A.
That means the supplied charger is too weak.
I would think at a 4A charger is needed. The Fujitsu laptop charger I’m using now is rated at 4.22A.

I will let Banggood or Imalent know about the charger, but I don’t expect a replacement. That’s why I went ahead and cut the cord.
I know I can get all the laptop power supplies I want in the recycle bin.

Does this adapter compatible with DX80?

Okay, so now we know what it does when the charger is plugged in with no batteries, or no battery contact.

It seems that it can not be disassembled. The initial 5 minutes of charging was slightly warmer.I do not feel the need for cooling.
But although this is already broken

The second one arrived today, but it has been broken since the beginning :rage:

At 19V, please select this type of plug.

As for the charging indicator,I think that it is OK.It reminds me the Sony SBH50 Bluetooth which I have, which when in charging condition has a indicator with the same movements. It shows the current situation and the maximum where it will go, when the charging is finished.
Edit.
As for the light,my jaws are still open.WOW.

Why? You had the light in your mouth for some quick close-up work? :stuck_out_tongue:

Congratulations on winning the IMALENT lottery. I am losing twice
In the story of gearbest I heard before, IMALENT seems not to be very cooperative with sellers.
I am relieved in this case like a problem only with the AC adapter. (The dchomak video was horror  )

There was a reply of DX80 from BG.
They asked if the problem is only with the AC adapter or whether the AC adapter has failed due to a problem with the main unit. I think that the matter of my9221 has also heard the same thing.

1. Does the mode button on the unit function?
2. Can you charge with another AC adapter?

As just confirmed on the taschenlampen forum, the dx80 was measured at over 31,000 lumens and 5000k temperature. Not surprised. It was a beast when it tested it before mine blew up. Fix the electronics problem, Improve the switch and include high quality charger and this flashlight would be perfect. Waiting to hear back on my warranty replacement.

Link please

Too bad no throw candela number yet.

I would say anything over 100kcd will be a bonus. If the x45vn at 25000 lumens is 150kcd, I guess the dx80 should get very close to that at 30k+ lumens because I don’t think the throw ratio to lumens between the X45 and dx80 is very different, with the x45 out throwing about 30% at same brightness at a guess.

All this talk about Throw, Lumens, Candela, etc. :stuck_out_tongue:
To me the only spec worth are darn is how long it takes to start a fire :smiling_imp:

^ The two blue leds are darn sexy. :sunglasses:

That makes for one big, expensive lighter.
Unfortunately, it might start a fire without the paper. :open_mouth:

Don’t forget the charger bro; that might be a fire starter as well, haha! :stuck_out_tongue:

This light scares me.
(It’s scary good)

My Fujitsu laptop charger works like a champ.

To prove a point, and show others in the U.S. how easy it is to get a free laptop charger, I went over to a Best Buy today to see if I could find any more compatible chargers. The recycle bins are usually just inside the front door, in a vestibule. There are another set of doors before you enter the store, so you do have some privacy. That should comfort anyone who is a little shy about helping themselves. Here are a series of pictures so anyone can become familiar with the lay of the land before they set out on their mission.

This time while I was digging deep and pulling out 4 laptop chargers, the greeter just inside the second set of doors, inside of the retail space saw me and came out.
He asked the rhetorical question, “can I help you?” translation, “just what do you think you’re doing crawling around in our recycle bins?”

This time I replied, “Why YES, you could help me. I am looking for a compatible laptop supply to charge my flashlight here”, and I showed it to him.
When he saw it, he jumped right in and pulled the whole unit away from the wall so we could get a better look at the bins.
That didn’t help because by the time he had seen me I had already pulled them all.
He suggested I go inside to the GEEK SQUAD counter, they had more in the back, besides they surely would like to get a look at that light.
Although they had no idea what it actually was, they were super impressed with it and scurried into the back to find a compatible supply with the right plug.
They found one with the right plug but it was only 12V. I should have grabbed it but didn’t.

I did a ceiling bounce test for them about a minute earlier, there was a very noticeable difference in the amount of light for a moment at that end of the store.
This woman was on her way over to tell me NOT to turn it on again in the store.
Of the 4 power supplies I pulled from the bins, the 2 best were the Lenovo’s. 20V @ 6.65A! Really beefy supplies, I will definitely use them for another project.

Point is, anyone needing an excellent charger for their light has FREE options.
Although on that trip I didn’t find one with the correct plug, I could still could have spliced the plug from my burnt original to one of the 4 I picked up today.

Don’t feel too bad. I looked through the documentation and there was no mention of removing the tiddily wink. I unscrewed the head and didn’t see a tiddily wink so I plugged it in and got the random flashes as well. I took the head off again and this time I turned the head upside down and then the clear tidily wink fell off. It’s charging fine now
