Convoy L6... XHP70 Beast!

Still to jump onboard and buy a Convoy L6 (I must be one of the few on here lol)

Any idea if this will be updated to come with the XHP70.2 soon (direct from Convoy)

Also is the SMO reflector a worthy upgrade for outdoor use? Is that much spill lost?

I haven’t heard anything about it being offered with a 70.2.

The reflector surface has no effect on the spill lighting since all that light does not even touch the reflector. The Smo basically tightens up the corona.

Whether it’s worth buying will be up to you. I always felt the beam was a little too wide for my tastes and would like to shrink it a little and gain some extra throw.

It’s currently the right size hot spot for me. If I were to slice the dome and get a smaller hotspot, it’d be too small and throwy. So it’s all personsal preference. The SMO is cheap enough that I would get it just to try it out.

Wow, that’s a great idea for me.
Where I can bought those kind of extension tube so the flashlight can handle 4 battery in series?

DBCUSTOM has a few extra.

It would probably be much cheaper to order extension tubes from Simon (Convoy) on AlliExpress to ship to Indonesia, shipping would be quite high from here as the USPS get’s really pricey exporting anything.

Hi guys.

My L6 seems to have died, and I can’t work out why. It’s been sat in its box for a couple of months since I last used it. I put in batteries, tried to turn it on, and nothing.

I’m not great at trouble shooting, any suggestions where to start? I’ve had the light for less than a year, and it’s probably only seen 30 minutes of actual use!

I charged the batteries before I tried to use them so no issues there. I’m using a disc with springs device I got to allow the flattop batteries to work in series.

Thanks!

Edit - I took off the tail cap and tried connecting the edge of the body to the bottom of the battery. It works! It seems the tail cap is the issue. The click is a bit spongy, but seems to be working. Can I test if the switch has failed?

Edit 2 - Broke out the continuity tester, and the tail cap switch is working

Edit 3 - I just needed to tighten the tail cap hard, and the connection is made and working. I don’t remember having the problem before. All’s well that ends well I suppose

Make sure the spacer ring that fills the gap for the lanyard ring on the battery tube is tight. If it gets loose, the tail cap won’t tighten all the way.

Right, what Jason said… that spacer ring is threaded on and can be replaced by the tactical ring, the spacer is so well made that it’s easy to forget it’s actually a threaded removable part.

I don’t see any extension tube for L6 on Simon’s store.
Could you please give the link for it?
Or I need to contact Simon directly?

You’ll need to ask directly.

I see. No wonder can’t find it anywhere in his store.
Thanks for the inforrmation, Jason.

Anyhow, where’s I can find 26350 battery?
Seems this hard to find. Only seen on BG or GB, but they can’t send to me.

You can also ask him for a clear switch cover if you need it.

You might try Fasttech for 26350. In the US, Mountain Electronics has them, but I don’t know if he ships to you.

Daneel: Or if you putted on the tactical lanyard ring reverse it can touch the tailcap and you need to screw on the tailcap hard.

Received mine today. Hopefully those KeepPower will be charged by the time it gets dark!

Sounds like you need an Xtar SV2 Rocket charger. 2 amp to each cell. Charges fast.

Does anyone know if Convoy is the only place to buy a new tail switch?

None of my chargers can supply more than 1A per channel (Nitecore i4, Xtar VC4 & Liitokala Lii-202), so I’ve been looking at MiBoxer’s range. But I’m pretty impressed with my Xtar, so it seems that I’ll need to give their rocket charger some consideration. I’ve got several lights that take 4 18650 cells though, so I might be better off getting a 4-bay charger. (or both?)

Currently got my 26650s in the Lii-202 hooked up to a 2.4A USB charger (Orico 4-port), so it should be charging with 1A per channel. But my (cheap) USB meter is only showing me a current that is varying between about 0.5 and 0.7A, and the light for 0.5A charging is lit up on the charger … :expressionless: I can see myself ordering a YZXstudio meter soon, so I know I’m getting accurate readings. And then I’ll need to find a multi-port USB charger that actually supplies what it promises!

I bought a Rocket especially to charge my L6 batteries. I actually bought 2 at $18 each since I have other lights that use 26650 as well.

The new I4 charger only does 0.375A x 4.

The VC4 charger only does 0.5A x 4. I have my VC4 hooked up to a good tablet usb charger rated at over 2A. Sometimes it seems the connection is not good and I’ll see the charge rate on the charger drop down a little. That’s worrysome. I’m going to avoid usb chargers from now on.

Have you looked at the lii-500 charger? It does 1A x 4. Thats pretty good.

I am on the lookout for a 4 bay charger that can do 1.5 amps each for 18650. That’s about the most a good 18650 can do. I’ve looked a little, but haven’t seen one yet.

Yes, I realised after posting that it might be a problem with the battery charger, and not the USB meter or phone charger. I’ve now got the batteries charging in the i4, which uses 750mA per channel if only slots 1&3 or 2&4 are used. I can’t currently remember where I’ve put my VC4 which would give me 2x 1A with 2-slot charging (provided that the USB charger works properly). If I can find it, I should at least be able to narrow down where the fault lies.

Has Simon ever thought about offering a diffusor for the light? Just a simple one to be stuck on the head. I think this would be a very practical addition.
