I had the scrap piece of wood and a tiny cutting of copper left over so...
Just when you thought the SL Mini was cute, I have made the SL Micro :))
Using an old adapter to get a micro USB socket and a broken DQG charger for a charging circuit.
Cutting the rosewood out and bonding the rear copper plate.
Filed the piece into shape, cut out the charging port, drilled hole in top for the switch and inserted a 4mm brass screwed tube.
Assembled the interior with a 200mAh lipo cell, momentary push switch, triple XP-G2 3D on an old filed down Noctigon with the charger and potted with JB weld.
Something a little different with the switch mechanism this time, I have used a brass M2 hexagonal bolt which screws down into the switch tube to press on the momentary switch.
I chemically blackened the bolt, cut out a 0.5mm silicone washer and applied thick arctic paste to the screw threads.
This gives the correct stiffness for switch operation after some fine tuning.
Onto the face plate, I marked out, drilled and filed into shape then sanded, polished and bonded the 18mm x 1mm glass in place & fixed to the wooden body.
After some polishing and tidying up the SL Micro was born :-)
Weighing 34 grams and sized at 40mm x 25mm x 12mm this light operates by twisting the hex switch on top.
I must admit just looking at this one makes me smile :-)
I am still thinking about a way to incorporate a neck chain...
I promise I'm nearly done now... :D
