ALL THINGS BUDGET KNIVES

I have not really used them to cut anything yet, They are hard to open and close which is an advantage to me as i don't want it to open or close easily, I am not into flipper knives, It`s a bit heavier than the original as it has steel scales opposed to the titanium on the original, But for £10 it`s a steal.

I will have to look at the video of the original PITS to see how easy it is to open and close and see if it can be flipped.

EDIT: This is an exact copy of the original, but titanium appears to be a lot more flexible than steel, the end of the blade would have to be shortened to reduce the height the back spring needs to be lifted.

John.

Yes, I knew it wouldn’t flip, I just don’t like the unevenness of it. Ti won’t put so much pressure on the lock for sure but that’s no big deal as long as it’s smooth.
And of course it’s cheap as shit, I never understand how they do that.
Just got an email offer from beerguest for the SRM 910+ in green, $9.99.
How they produce such a great knife for that money is beyond me but I’d also like to see it made with a single liner and a full slab of G10.
It’s working well if you use carbon fiber but G10 should be ok, too.

The SRM 910 Plus is nice, But it`s no good for UK law, blade is too long and it is locking.

Below is a nice looking cheap pocket knife, A good looking blade, steel type is not listed but that does not bother me.

GB charges me for shipping to the UK, £6.11 for the knife and £1.34 for delivery, FastTech delivery is around £0.27p so i will see if i can find a knife i like from FT

John.

That small knife is looking good, from pictures you can never tell about quality.
The 710 fails for me with the tip-down clip, I just learned that it’s a no-go for me.
Someday I could order a Brother 1602 though, I always liked that Kershaw Gent’s folder and the Navy K611 clone.

The most I’d like a nice fejesgörbe slipjoint, the traditional design that Spyderco turned into a way too expensive native series knife.
The clone is too fat but it would be interesting to slim it down…

I don’t order another 910(+/3/4) because gb asks $7-8 shipping to Switzerland.
I could order it to some friends’ or even my parents’ addresses in Germany with free shipping but this way I can tell myself that I don’t need another knife :stuck_out_tongue:

On the other hand I think I will order a Microtech LUDT clone for a job student, maybe I’ll wait till he turns 18 as it’s a switchblade

what about fasttech.

SRM 910 Plus, Black or Green, $15.68 free shipping, maybe little charge for packing.

John.

Yeah, but I have my 910+, only a 9.99 flash sale could make me buy another one :stuck_out_tongue:

No pic? try this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/photobucket-fix/

I’m more looking for a nice slim gent’s folder to make some scales for it.
I have some real tartan and it would be cool to make micarta of it for some scales.

Of course I still have like half a dozen other projects in the line, but hey, it’s fun to play

I like the little dragon folder Sanrenmu 7129 but it’s really tiny, but I’d love a bigger version of the Klotzli inspired SRM 702, like plus 20% minus the thumb stud.
On ball bearings or good washers that would be a perfect front flipper.

I don’t know if you noticed but the 710 is a frame lock knife, therefore not legal in the UK.
Another version of this knife is currently on sale for $4.99 at GB. A steal for people looking for a small knife and are OK with locking blades (and yes, I’m not fond of the tip up neither but that is the only “flaw” I can find).

If I remember correctly, the steel is 8CR13MOV.

Nice knife at great price, worth a go even though it`s a frame lock, but i will still buy it for home use.

Thanks

John.

For your information.

The order i refused to pay the import duty at my UK postal office, was return to FastTech. the order total was $23.34 for which FastTech deducted $6.24 for "original shipping fee" But the shipping was free, Or not so free as this shows, Still this is a lot better than paying the import duty+fee.

In the UK, we pay import duty, basically VAT at 20% on imports over £15/$19.74 , If my order goes over the £15 limit, I am charged 20% tax + an £8 post office handling fee.

I bought a 4 pack of diamond sharpening stones for $10.62, they are only 75x25x8mm but are easy to carry.

So i am happy.
John.

I mean no dis respect when I say this, but I don’t know how you guys can stomach having to pay these outrageous VAT fees. What is the way around it?
Kits of smaller amounts?
Or getting a friend in a nearby country to bring it in?
Have already decided, should I ever visit the UK I will bring lot’s of Maglites out of the wrapper to subsidize the trip
Feel for ya man.
Later,

Keith

I bought the last two of this bad boy. I got two fer one. $35. Bucks for both. It’s a heavy knife at 8.8oz with a 4” blade. Anyways, check it out.

Decepticon Knife

Do you like it?

Just got the Land 9104 today. Really nice knife, but is there a knack to getting it to open one handed?

The deployment is nice and smooth once the blade gets moving, but it’s incredibly difficult to get it to move from the closed position.

Hey SubSailorVet,

Do you think the WorkSharp sharpener would be able to give a decent edge to this Nepalese Kukuri?

You should try to bend the lock bar outwards a bit after removing the pocket clip.

Thanks, I’ll give that a go.

I finished my review about the Ganzo Firebird FB7601 CF & G10 folders. These are the first axis-lock Ganzos with ball bearings so the opening - closing action is pretty smooth.

Lot of Ganzo haters on BladeForum as they see them as copying other manufactures ideas, example guy with an user name Ganzofan getting grief just because he likes Ganzo knives.

Dont mention you buy clones either, A really big no no.

John.

This Ganzo seems nice, I hope they’ll make a smaller version like the F753M1 (my EDC)

That’s why places like this exist!
