Review: Haikelite MT02

You can compare your values with values you find in reviews. For example, a lot of reviews say Convoy L6 stock has lux value of about 70k lux. You can find a bunch of lux values for Haikelite lights as well.

Tested again, this time from a distance of 18 feet (about 5.5 meters): 59,298cd. This was with slightly discharged 30Q (4.07V).

BTW, I was walking around with it last night… with 3 cells loaded, coming in at over 1lb of weight, you can certainly feel its heft after some time. I do like the amount of output it provides, but it is never going to be my EDC. I had my Convoy S2+ in the other hand, and much prefer its size for EDC. I just ordered the new S2+ Desert Tan since it looks like it has a better balance between throw and flood, compared to my current S2+.

I think your light is okay dont get too overly concern over candela figures, yours is up there with my my MT02.

Yeah i notice that too the weight of it with 3 cells made the palm a bit tired/cramped using 2 cell does help a lot in the long walk, certainly not EDC-able as in Convoy S2+ but will surely fits inside your backpack or larger pocket, i would carry this in a bag not in the pants though.

I tried to remove the driver today.
I unscrewed the retaining ring, but the driver still doesn’t move. Any suggestions?

I have opened the light as well. The driver did not fall out by itself. I had to tap the head a couple of times and it came out; it was not glued or anything. I think you can also pry it out gently with something sharp.

OK, thanks.

So, all of a sudden my MT02 will not turn on. Nothing happens when I press the switch. Are these switches known to go bad? What can I check?

I don’t recall reading about bad switches on these lights. The driver retaining ring itself may be loose, so you don’t have a closed electrical circuit, and it’s not a switch problem. This is a common problem with flashlights including the MT03. If not, you can have a look inside by removing the driver retaining ring, and removing the driver to see if the wires to the switch are intact. I’d start with this first. Good luck.

I removed the ring and looked inside - all the wiring seems to be in place. I did not find anything unusual. I put it back together, tightened the ring. Still dead.

Hi all, new here but silent reader all while till I face some problem, hence registering n post for some help, my mt02 bought few weeks back today tried to use again, still working but my turbo mode got some problem, when I double click from high to turbo it will activate, but only for 1sec then it slowly dims back to 0 lumens then it goes back to high mode, every time I double click it does that my turbo does not stay on anymore, using genuine full charged 3x LG chocolate Batts rated 20a, changed to Lg he4 same outcome tried Samsung also same, any help

Hey how are you doing man, and welcome to BLF! It’s sort of like a jojo right? I have that with mine too, except it does that at 3.7~3.8V. So I can use the light from fully charged 4.2V down to about 3.8V. Sounds like a busted driver. I think it needs to be replaced if that is possible…

OK, I’m a moron. Apparently, I somehow managed to put the light in lock-out mode, which I didn’t remember that this light had. I got it unlocked now. All is well now, except for my bruised ego.

Well I missed it too… Two morons… Isn’t there like a social experiment where we should try to change a light bulb or something?

While reading through, i was thinking could it be in lockout. :person_facepalming:

I got this thing for 40$ - and I regret it now.

I tried to change the LED with the Hi-Version, which resulted in a massive Donut-hole.
Changed it then to a 5000K from KD
The beam itself is pretty ugly - something that I do really dislike
And to make it even worse, without even using the light one of the SPrings in de back just fell off.
The light was just standing on my shelf, I moved it to get to something behind it when I heard something rattling inside…

I really like the form factor - I do like bigger lights, and I like the silver color because it’s rather unique - but for that price I think I can expect at least a very nice beam pattern.

If I could get a OP Reflector for this light, I would change the LED with a XHP50.2
If the beam isn’t nicer with that, I will sell the thing - I don’t want to have lights in my collection that make me angry.

Maybe you should get MT01 with XHP50.2

^ MT02 is XHP35 = 12V. XHP50.2 = 6V
Or maybe you’re going to change the driver as well?

There is a Sinkpad for 12V: leddna.com - Informationen zum Thema leddna.
But I have to really think about that.
I already have bought 2 XHP35 for this thing - 14$ for those.
a XHP50.2 on 12V board would be another 12$
That would make the MT02 a 66$ flashlight for me - for that price you get the Convoy L6 or Astrolux MF01 (which I already have of course :D)

Maybe I just sell this thing, gotta be the best for me

How about a FET drive XP-L HI? Much better heat sinking than with a single 18650 host, combined with a relatively large reflector for great throw.

I like the idea.
I just tested it out with a XP-L Hi and a XP-G2 - It seems that HaikeLite just created a reflector that won’t work properly with any LED.
Both have a very uneven beam, the XP-L Hi even creates some type of cross inside.
