Lumintop edc05 (14500, NW)

Who knows… it may be programmable, too. Someone will have to test it out.

True  I was just speaking about the specs mentioned on their site!
Let’s wait and see :+1:

funny

I'm actually excited by this given my recent experience with their Tool AAA. Admittedly I have very limited experience with FLs in general, but Lumintop made a very good impression on me with their build quality.

I'll be keeping a close eye on this FL and hope others will share their experiences about it in the future.

In the meantime, quality wise, are Manker and Lumintop on the same level?

Could you be a bit more specific about what is funny please ?

This is what came into my mind when seeing the news from Lumintop today.

x2… IIRC neither the UT01 or E11 advertised for programability either. Or if they did it was a foot-note and not something boldly marketed.

The EDC05 lumen output specs match the UT01 / E11 (give or take), and the msrp is very close as well. I am willing to bet all 3 of these lights are the same with minor cosmetic differences only, coming from the same OEM fabricator in China.

Magnetic tail cap is a nice addition. My tents have magnetic zippers that I can position over the top, so this would come in handy for sure.

FWIW my UT01 and E11 are 84mm long. The EDC05 is 86.2

Doesn’t look like the lumintop can do this… So emitter upgrade / swaps might be difficult

The Lumintop should conduct heat more efficiently and there is one less gasket / threaded junction for water to leak in.

Even if I was “late to the game”, I didn’t see them (Manker / Utorch) advertising those as programmable, just after seeing reviews here and other places!

If the LT EDC05 is programmable, can it be programmable in the same way (levels, …) as the other mentioned flashlights? This is probably to be answered by further reviews!

Indeed this is a nice addition!! With a tail cap like this I wouldn’t have glued a magnet outside mine and it would still look pretty :person_facepalming:

Head and tail will be different for sure, let’s wait for the “internals” and see how they perform

[If this had direct access to turbo from ON or OFF…that would make the difference for me!]

Sorry to get this back from the dead, but does anyone have this light
I was searching for any review here but didn’t find any so far… :expressionless:

Expected this AA EDC torch, COMPACT, high output?! Can’t wait!

Does it support protected batteries, since they are longer ?

does it support Protected

I just recieved my Edc05 yesterday. It is a good 4 or 5mm longer than my Utorch Ut01. It handles protected 14500 batteries with no problems.

Protected by my house cat Fang.

Judging from that picture, it looks like the added length is in the tube. The heads and tail caps look to be the same length on both lights. Is that correct?

Yes the extra length is in the tube. Traded body and tail cap from the edc05 to ut01. Before 14500 protected battery would not work in the ut01 with edc05 body and tail cap ut01 works fine.

Lumintop have some of the worst photoshop images that have ever been produced.
Check out the images on FastTech of the under the hood of a car shot. The flashlight is just levitating there, LOL

https://www.fasttech.com/products/1601/10017693/9619813-authentic-lumintop-edc05-led-flashlight

The shot of the tailcap with the greatly off center spring must be real however. Should have shopped that one too.
They need a competent copy editor on staff.

Anyway, looks like a nice light, now where is the $9.99 code??

Later,
Keith

what surprises me is they don’t give flashlights away to english speakers to help with the marketing translations

for example the edc05 is on amazon now:
https://www.amazon.com/LUMINTOP-Flashlight-Professional-Tactical-Batteries(Cold/dp/B078MYBHF5/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1515817411&sr=8-1&keywords=lumintop%2Bedc05&th=1

and here is just one description:

“strong magnetic tail cap. Can be sucked on metal surface or tail standing serve as a candle”

I’m not being critical of lumintop here…I see some companies giving away products for reviews to generate interest and that same idea could be applied to helping polish the chinese to english advert lingo.

Give-aways and feedback are fine, but they should really pay actual writers a going rate. It’s not like they are that expensive.

Google Translate, as useful as it is, is distorting and degrading English (and, I’m sure, every other language it supports).
