Garry,
You are right, I have been seeing some strange things too. Tons of items that should have gone to a penny but haven’t. Others that have not gone to the next discount price as expected etc.
Today I was in a store and it looks like the Christmas season stuff is just coming out. These displays were just starting to be put up, but I was able to notice some brand new lights. Prices had not yet been posted on some.
This flashlight is the size of a 2D cell light but runs on 6-AA’s
700 lumen, dual beam. The main LED looks like an XP-L and it is surrounded by a “halo” of some sort of COB.
There was also a 2-C sized light that runs on 4-AA’s and a n AA sized light that runs on 4-AA’s
???
I only saw a price on the smaller light, $12.97
All 3 lights are very attractive color wise. Silver, Black and Grey,
All 3 lights have the dual beam LED’s
Thanks for the report. Always good to see what is comming down the pike. The Flood Beam diagram is a real understatement. That COB surrounding the reflector should put out a mule like light pattern.
Speaking of strange pricing, here is one I never saw before.
These Ridgid wet tiles saw was originally $189.00.
I first took notice when they went to their first markdown, priced at $149.
I waited, and waited. After some months they went to $95.04.
The “4” price is always a good one because it is the first step in the serious markdowns, is about 25% off and will go to the “2” price which is about 75% off in about 4 weeks.
This happened about 2 months ago, and I bought 2. I know that the “4” price will go to the “2’ price in 4 weeks or less (28 days) and if I am diligent, and I find one at the ”2” price within 30 days, I can ask Home Depot to refund the difference back to my credit card.
I anticipated the “2” price to be around $48.02 and if I can get refunded the difference I will get back about $100!
So I did what I often do, I printed out a UPC code and would scan it in Home Depot, checking for price. For the first 3 weeks there was no change, but coming close to the 28th day there was a price change.
But this time the stores around here didn’t go to the “2” price, they reset it to the “6” price. $94.06
That means they changed their mind, they were not willing to mark them down 75% and wanted to give the 25% off price 6 more weeks before they reduced it to the 75% off price of around $48.03.
It took me a few days to realize I had only 1 option. It was getting close to 30 days and I would forfeit my right to a refund of the difference, so I went up to the service desk and asked them to refund the difference in price to my card.
Now that difference was only 98 cents for each saw, $95.04 to $94.06, but it was lower and I was able to get a total refund and then a buy back.
When that is done, I get a new receipt and that 30 day countdown starts all over again starting at that date.
Just about 30 days later it all paid off. I found that the saw had finally gone to $48.03 and I did get the refund, about $100
Whew
I was surprised how many lights they had and how cheap they were … The Rayovacs Indesrtructables for 10$ is a decent price . I also saw some Defiant 2 pack AA xpg-2 lights for 10$.
I think they are one mode 80 lumen lights but I bet they are doing that 80 lumens for like 10 hours…
I’m guessing your average guy would be impressed with a bright little $5 light that lasts 3 or 4 years …or till the AA duraleak leaks
Which part of California are you from? I purchased 1 of the Bat Flashlights. I will go back to pick up another one. I might pick up some of the Husky ones. The only thing I do not like is it covered in rubber. The same as the Costco Duracell 1000 lumen one. Not good if to be used ad defensive tool. The only closest one is the Batlight.
BTW. Wallyworld has the Pink Orzark Trail pink batlight. Picked one up for collection of Batlights.
I had only seen the bat lights in Canada last summer but now the stores around here have them. It seems to me if available, everyone should consider getting one of those!
Those 500lm 3xC Duracell flashlights seem interesting. Probably would not be too difficult to convert them to 18650 or 26650… just need something to fill the rest of the tube with.
It's very important with the above to use a plastic or other non-conductive sleeve. Also, be very careful to put both cells in facing the same direction. You will get a direct short of both cells if they are not put in oriented correctly.
Yes, ImA4. Very important to make that clear
This pipe
BTW, ImA4Wheelr, You posted for the first time in that thread almost 5 years ago now. Made quite a splash right from the get go with your idea for that mod.
At the time I was an “old timer” with a whole year under my belt on the forum
Now you have twice as many posts as I do, with a whole lot more flashlight knowledge :student:
today they had about 30 pallettes covered with black plastic tarps and signs that said “no peeking until black friday”
a few tarps had been partially pulled up, saw some drill combo sets, some dewalt tool boxes etc, but they were mostly covered.
