I love this flashlight for so many years. Too bad it didn’t evolve into better LED and UI. The form factor and design are so futuristic to me. New lights really can’t beat its beauty. Glad that i bought two. :sunglasses:
Recently i put new INR18650 30Q in it, it is brighter now. :+1:
Really hope some company come up similar design, maybe a bit bigger size for more lumens.

I have one on a small camera tripod on the hall table inside my front door.
It’s a piece of art as well as a practical street flooder.

You can always mod yours to make more lumens or throw if you want too.
Ya, it is subjective. Without that little button on the handle is a no-no to me. It is so easy to reach for the button.
Ya, I should MOD one of them with XPL2 or SST40.
Very nice! She is decorative too.
My biggest gripe is the need to cycle through levels.
Any way to mod it with a memory type UI similar to Olight?

Ya, the UI is outdated. You will need to change the driver to have new UI.
I am not thinking of changing its UI, but I am thinking to change the LED to SST-40. I measure the forward voltage to be 3v at max.
And again, it will be just minor upgrade. Maybe I will wait for 3000k warm white SST-40 or XP-L2 and with lower price too.
I love these as well, they certainly have stood the test of time! I also have two, a CW & NW, And I still use it (the NW version) the CW one is still brand new I never used it except once for a quick test.

Like yours I also have the v1 versions, and I totally agree with you, I like it because the switch is located in the handle right where my thumb rests, to me it’s better than the later T70 version with removable handle because: 1) I’d never remove the handle and 2) the switch is not where it needs to be for using the handle.

I’ve long wanted to try to mod one of my BST for upgrade to XPL or XPL-HI on Copper DTP, and a DD FET driver, but never seem to have time. I’ve saved links to the mod threads and it looks pretty easy to do. The three members that come to mind who posted the mods I saved were DB Custom, JohnnyMac and ToyKeeper. I believe MTN Electronics has the driver needed. Should be able to get at least 4000lm.
I was thinking about selling the CW one lately but figured that’s the one I’d try to mod and if something goes wrong I’ll still have my NW that I use.

Also I don’t really like soup can lights but I like this one because of the handle, I might like the Q8 if I could come up with a similar handle for it, even though the switch wouldn’t be in the handle. Lately I’ve been considering one and trying to make a handle for it.

I liked mine. It put out a nice wall of light and it wasn’t that expensive. I sold mine to a friend a while back as I simply wasn’t using it and it was better being used than just sat on a shelf.
Ya, i don’t understand why Blackshadow relocated the switch for subsequent model. They must not have a strong minded designer or brand manager. They lost their brand identity and listen to noises. Unique brand identity is very important to stand out from the crowd. We can look at brand like Zebralight or Apple for phone.
The handle is superb. I saw some design that has handle reversed by attaching from the tail. I was like what’s wrong with the designer, his house must have no ceiling that he can’t do ceiling bounce. It will be harsh with light pointing at floor.
Just to show how i hang it in bathroom. Help me see better and clean myself better.

I say “had” because I’ve never seen this for sale anywhere and didn’t know it existed until today. Anyone know anything about it?
I think they tried to listen to the customers, the majority don’t like the handles or “Lantern Style” like we do, they’re still not very popular. So they tried to make it versatile to suit everyone but it kind of ruined it for people who only like to use it with the handle. I guess people are afraid the handles reduce the ability to pocket the light. Go figure 
.
I also have the Darth, and that too is a beautiful flashlight, with its Magnetic Slip Ring switch, also ahead of its time!

I thought Black Shadow quit making flashlights entirely? I haven’t see them sold anywhere for years, but I see they still have a website up…(Although it looks like the last updates to it were in 2014)

I do have this BST-80 for 3 years now , amazing light , it has the same driver like BST-70 ( 4 drivers on the same plate ) , but , because it has only 3 Leds , one channel is not used ! Very easy to mod , all the connections are with plug-in connectors . I modded mine (resistor mod) , and I have to say that , compared with a TK75 , is not easy to say which is which...! It is worth the money ( I think it was about 70-80 $ or so...)

I suspect their boss have many other brands. Blackshadow is just one of them. He still keeps the Blackshadow website alive. Might be focusing on other brand.
