Astrolux C8

I think a done up C8 with an XPL-HI would get around 90-100Kcd from my testing. My XPG2 and XPL dedomed C8s both do nearly 150Kcd i am not sure if my number are low. I have never been able to beat this number in a C8.

Looks like they may have updated the product page.

Now claiming 102kcd, which seems intuitively reasonable. If the Convoy C8 hits 70kcd at 1000 lumens, and the Emisar D1S hits ~120kcd at 1300 lumens with a larger reflector, 100kcd at 1300 lumens in the Astrolux C8 seems believable.

My stock Sofirn C8T does 80kcd, and that is as far I know the best stock performing C8 . For 15$ you get original XPL-HI V3 (2B/3B)tint not sure , 17mm copper DTP board, and bridged springs from factory….
With full battery 4.2 Amp at tail, so that Astrolux C8 must be driven up to 5.5-6 Amp to achive 120kcd

Nice! You get stock what used to be a proper mod. But 30 dollar is a bit too much for it, a Convoy C8 that basically has the same production costs, costs half of that.

Seems more realistic. 100kcd could probably be achieved with 12x7135 instead of FET.

I’ll believe it when i see it :stuck_out_tongue:

Only the very best C8 can get 150kcd and 100kcd is more reasonable but they may still have to work to the centering ring?

i may be slow but what is the point in a clone of the c8 ? seems confusing….

There is no clone of C8, they are all hybrids, so finding better then the best in terms of performance and quality is always fun…

This one is already modded using a BLF A6 driver and i would assume a direct thermal path MCPCB.

After reading this, I've started to believe in my Sofirn C8T smartphone lux readings. Published a little review of it here a few hours ago. The driver is pretty good.

Cheers ^:)

1+ for Sofirn :+1:

I am on the brink of buing this one (it is on sale now). What stops me is that it is stated to be with the A6 driver, which has a timed and not thermal stepdown. Does anyone know which level the light steps down to?

a bit high price, dont see the point in this one, already have the c8 silver with xpl-hi emitter so…

I believe the quality and performance are good, but it is a bit pricey at $29 to be honest.

Anybody has tried to swap the stock driver of the clear Convoy C8 XP-L HI into an FET driver? And what is the lux reading you can get?

I imagine astrolux can keep up with a larger demand, idk

I did, makes already good flashlight even more powerfull, not sure about the lux readings, I only have basic lux meter (like in the pic) but not enough time to learn how to use it, so it pretty much collects dust

I measured the intensity of my Astrolux C8 (got it from BG almost two weeks ago but hadn’t had the time to post my readings) and I got a lux reading at start of 5,350lx at 5m which is equal to 133,750cd. I don’t have a fancy lux meter, just this . Lux reading dropped to 5,200lx after 30 seconds.

I want to trust your numbers, but did you ever measured a well known thrower from a reputable brand to see if your luxmeter is trustable ?
Thank you

Yup, I do understand your concern. The problem with these meters is that the user has no way of knowing whether they are properly calibrated. The calibration is left to the user. Anyway, the only other real thrower that I have right now is the Klarus G35. I measured 254,300cd at start and 251,000cd after 30 seconds. I guess posting numbers should include a caveat that the one posting the numbers does not guarantee the accuracy of the readings, haha.

the candela reading of the klarus g35 you got matches factory claims.
your reader seems to be fairly accurate. I have the c8 also and its an amazing little light. so small and such a long throw. (surprises me every time i turn it on).
