A remake?!? Doesn’t Hollyweird have even one original idea in their coke-filled heads?

That’s just wrong on so many levels…

Great flick, true, but “The Terminator” was and is a classic in itself. I still get goosebumps watching it.

Forgot some good’uns…

Robocop

Jaws (as you mentioned)

They Live!

Dirty Harry

Silence Of The Lambs

Mississippi Burning

In The Heat Of The Night

Fargo

The Matrix

Die Hard

Hamlet (w/ Mel Gibson)

Hamlet (w/ P Stewart and D Tennant… creepy!)

The Ten Commandments

Max Max (!!!)

I can go on, and on, and on…

Spirited Away.

Nice to see Totoro on someone’s list.

May I know how old are you?

You reminded me of this nice movie. I shall watch it again.

Big Trouble in Little China

Have you ever fired your gun up in the air and gone “ahhrgh”?

Another couple I would add

Leon: The Professional
Ghostbusters (the original)
Desperado

Ghostbusters is very underrated. Harold Ramis was the rare, true comedy genius.

I forgot about this one:
Harley Davidson and The Marlboro Man.
Mickey Rourke when he was still pretty.

La Gloire de mon père
Le Château de ma mère
Le Temps des secrets

Groundhog day is its best one IMO.

Someone mentioned UHF (weird al yankovic) :+1: :+1: :+1:

I have mentioned only one movie, but can agree with almost everything that is mentioned in this thread.
But I would not mind if you swapped “La soupe aux choux” with “Les choses de la vie”.
Where the late Romy Schneider shines in one of her unforgettable performances (get out your handkerchiefs).

Whilst “La soupe aux choux” means The cabbage soup. Flatulency caused by eating it, is some kind of intergalactic morse, attracting an alien. Yeah I know.
Romy also has made some shxx films. The Sissi-triology should only be tolerated because it made her famous.

I usually prefer foreign language films over Hollywood blockbusters (although there are some exceptions - Bladerunner, the original Star Wars trilogy etc.).

At the top of my list are Tarkovsky’s ‘Stalker’ (1979) and ‘Solaris’ (1972). I love the way that he uses colour and very slow pans (sometimes lasting several minutes) instead of the usual fast-cut action.

Apart from that, dystopian sci-fi is pretty much my thing - THX-1138, Soylent Green, eXistenZ …
