Put me on the list please.

Hi DEVELOPERS TEAM,

I'm already in the list and recently got up to date with the design thanks to The Miller's 1st updated post.

I checked it and was wondering:

  • Why the front glass was changed for a plastic one?
  • Is it AR coated in some way? (it would benefit the flashlight efficiency & throw considerably)
  • Have you thought about making a thread at the front to attach a diffuser? (like filters on photography lenses)
It would be VERY helpful to give more "flood" light, if the user wants or needs it.
I have it on a Acebeam K60 and works great
(I don't know the exact diameter and thread dimensions it should have, 120mm or more I think, maybe it would require a custom made filter, but it would be GREAT to have the option...)

Maybe these topics were already discussed, but I'm almost new to the project, which I found AWESOME, so I decided to get in immediately.

Thank you very much!

PVCC lens are glass 2,5mm thick double AR coated not a plastic

That's easy, this is a huge light that is made for throw. So why would you want to make a diffuser? If you want flood just take a more pocket friendly light with you that has a diffuser. Or take the q8 with you, it has a lot of lumens and is more flood than throw.

I just don't see a reason why you would want a diffuser to create flood for a light this size.

However it is a good point to think about it for a possible future project.

Much interested!

Hi,

In The Miller's OP latest update of October 8, 2017, he wrote (below the updated list):

" Changed glass to plastic for lens
lens thickness 2.5mm "

So I wonder what drove that decision, besides the other questions/suggestions I wrote..

Cheers

Hi, yes, I understand your point.

I mentioned it because I always try to make & design things the most versatile possible way.

So giving the option maybe wouldn't hurt, and for some people it could be helpful if some flood light is needed when carrying the GT.

Just my humble opinion.

I am here from day one and first time hear about that, so it must be old post while we was still voting about the design. Beside that all prototypes have glass lens.

Hi, could you please put me on the list? What else do I have to do to order one BLF GT?
Thanks in advance!

This is all you need to do. Payment details are not set. Once production starts and it gets close to buying time you will get a PM telling you all the details. What store to go to and what special code to enter to get the discounted price, etc… We may even need to do a small deposit before that. It’s still not known.

So for now we wait.

Put me on the list for one please.

Thanks,
CJ

@PVCC

I think it was brought up way back about using plastic vs glass len’s, cost saving’s, weight, light transmittance, yada, yada yada…
I’m going to be changing out the glass lens to one of Chris’s lens, FlashlightLens.com - Your source for high quality glass and acrylic flashlight lenses. - Flashlightlens.com - Online Store He will make custom sizes and with this many GT’s out there……FlashlightLens.com - Your source for high quality glass and acrylic flashlight lenses. - Flashlightlens.com - Online Store

I have dropped a modded TK61 from my tree stand and the busted glass scared up the reflector, Fenix was nice enough to send me a new one with another glass lens, found out member D36ME had Chris make one of his for the TK61 so I got one too.

Not that the GT will be ever up in a tree stand with me, but……you never know…

Yeah not to worry about lens that plastic part was indeed from all the way at the beginning

Diffuser? Not planned and yes there are better lights to have a diffuser for
I did use a TN42 to light a barn by pointing it at the roof
The tight beam made sure no blinding side light for people and the bounced light was nice.

I get you, making it most versatile possible is always a great idea.

Quite frankly we, or at least I, didn't think of intergrade a diffuser option.

Thank You JasonWW for the information

Editing pictures now….

Ladies and gentlemen’s fasten your seatbelts, you are going to experience GT final edition

I believe V1.2 is what was forwarded to LT, and I think V1.2 is what is on the proto, maybe ??

Hard to believe there's a BLFer who doesn't have a Q8

To check the version #:

  • triple click to display voltage,
  • double click to display temperature
  • double click to display the version # (should be either 1 blink and long pause for V1.0, or 1 blink then short pause and 2 blinks for V1.2)
