Convoy S2+ 18350

Anyone have this with the Biscotti firmware? Just ordered the regular S2+ with it hoping to switch my 18350 over hoping to get lower lumen option and get rid of the low level blink.
Ordered a 7135*4 trying to minimize the 0.1% output. Using Aspire 18350.
Comments welcome.

I wonder if Simon would sell one in this configuration. I believe that someone in another thread wished for the same thing. I’d be interested. I’ve got a few extra 18350 cells lying around and wouldn’t need the extra long tube taking up space.

Gonna use the parts to have a 18650 as I don’t have one.
From Rochester myself. Sure miss Wegmans and Nick Tahou’s.

korpzgrinda did it and mentioned here  (not the 18350, but the 18350 S2+ Desert tan 4*7135)

I ordered one with these specs, from Simon:

- SMO reflector (that I may exchange for a pebbled TIR lens)

- XPL-HI U6-4C led

- Biscotti with 3*7135 chips (that I may turn into 2*7135, or not)

  • Forward tail switch (well, to avoid the “clicking” noise during the night)

It is on its way. I don’t have another S2+ with biscotti on 4*7135 chips, but I have a modded light with these specs: 4*7135, XML2 U6-3B and pebbled TIR lens.

The 0.1% mode is low, but not low low. I expect the 3*7135 to be a bit lower, but I don’t have it yet to make comparisons. In some weeks I can show some pics, when it arrives.

The pebbled lens helps to smooth and diffuse the beam, and reduces the visible output a little bit, but it is not a “true” moonlight, for what I can tell.

Here is a comparison with that modded light I mentioned with some other lights, all on lowest settings: Convoy S2+ mode selection question/problem - #17 by MascaratumB

Hope this helps

Thanks MascaratumB. I did read you post earlier. It’s hard to tell how low the low level is until you use in a darkened room. Kinda want to use on the nightstand but we will see. Anyway, just really like the S2+ shorty and don’t have the full size so I said, what the hey. Always room for one more.
Simon was great to deal with.

I can test it on Sunday if you don’t mind waiting a bit!
I don’t have any of those with me now to tell you how it feels.

If you wanna see how it works with less 7135 chips and a different LED, I can show it when it mine arrives, no problem. I intend to do so, as there have been some doubts about the lowest mode on different chips! :+1:

Thanks.
Will be watching for it but no rush. Just ordered so probably a month out anyway.

Worry not and…wait sitting, as the festival 11.11 is starting and may take a while to get things at your home :+1:
Sunday I’ll post the pics :sunglasses:

it would be nice if future batches of the s2 had a moonlight mode.

So, as promised, today I had the opportunity to take some photos with the modded light with 4*7135 biscotti driver (XML2 T6-3B), and to compare it with other lights, in their lowest modes.
Here they are.

Left to right:
Jetbeam RRT01 > Modded zoomie (with ReyLight Pineapple driver + XML2 T6-3B) > Modded Amutorch S3 (with ReyLight Pineapple driver + XML2 T6-4C ) > Nitefox UT20 > Zanflare F1 > Modded light (biscotti 4*7135) > Manker E11 > Convoy S2+ (XML2 T6-4C) > Convoy S2+ (XML2 U2-1A) > Convoy S2+ (XPL-HI U6-3A) > Emisar D4 (XP-G2 S4 3D)

The lights in groups, from left to right, just to see how low they go!

Now, the modded light versus the other Convoy S2+ (all with 8*7135 chips biscotti drivers) and the Manker E11, 2m away from that painting.
Lowest ( Modded light (4*7135) > XPL-HI > XML2 U2-1A > XML2 T6-4C > Manker E11)

Highest

The other lowest modes are higher than the modded light with 4*7135 biscotti, that also has a pebbled lens.
Even Zanflare or the UT20 has a lower ML mode.
In weeks I’ll be able to compare it with a 3*7135!

Dang MascaratumB. Thanks for your report. Very well done and much appreciated. Just waiting for mine to show up.

Thanks  BTW, I don’t know if you’ve seen this thread that was/is about S2+ with lower modes. Take a look it if you find it interesting

Hope it helped :+1:

Ok, I remembered this is the thread where I was supposed to say something about the Convoy S2+ 3*7135 version I ordered a while ago. So that I don’t keep saying the same things in multiple threads, I’d invite you to see this post with the experience bewteen 3*7135 and 1*7135 chips.

Sorry for the delay :person_facepalming:
