Any new USB charging lights?

Looks like an excellent “Flooder” mode for a work light or close up illumination.

Convoy BD series are pretty neat. I have the 26650 BD06 on the way. It should actually have Biscotti installed if it gets picked from stock correctly. Coming from GB. It still got the 7135’s for stacking and no micro USB port on the driver to break. I have the ThorFire version of the BD04 18650 zoomie. Did the 4X stack on it. I use it around the house a lot for the no spot flood. That one needs the battery in backward, just a heads up, as our minds are already programmed opposite. Yeah it took me a while to get it working out of the box
My BD06 will prolly have the EU pins on the charger too, but I have adapters or a phone charger works too.

I agree the YAGE is tempting for 7 bucks, I really like that SMD illuminated bezel, it appears pretty bright on high for good a Flood mode, excellent idea, I’m probably going to grab one too. Pretty crazy ratcheting sound with the rotating zoom function, (I watched the video) the female talking in the background is hilarious!

I see in your sig you have some Nebo lights, are they decent quality? I’ve been strongly considering the Nebo Redline RC with Mag Dock for this gift, because I really wanted a light with the convenience of a magnetic docking base.

Only issue it appears the strobe is part of the mode sequence, one of the reasons I wanted a programmable UI, or at least a hidden strobe mode. Do you think its UI is similar to your other Nebo lights, do you have to scroll through 3 modes AND the blinkie every time you use it?

There aren’t many 18650 size lights with the magnetic docking base (besides the Olight S30R, which was quite over budget)

The only other one I found was this iprotect 500lm at Home Depo, which looks suspiciously like a Nebo, and like Nebo they’re also calling the docking system “Mag Dock”, looks like it has the same modes too. It’s rated a higher output (500lm vs 320lm) and appears longer than the Nebo. However it’s kind of pricy, and got a few bad reviews too.

Thanks for the post, didn’t know about the BD06 or the BD04, so it appears the BD06 is a slightly smaller version of the BD01.

And the BD04 a smaller version of the BD02, however it has a tail switch instead of the side switch. (I guess why the backwards battery?) it’s not showing the Biscotti UI diagram but it shows: “NEW BD04, now we install new firmware in the flashlight” I guess that means it will have Biscotti now?

And these all come with the EU plugs only? I’m surprised they don’t have option for a US plug, shouldn’t be a big deal I guess, like you said just use a phone charger.

I’m kind of liking the smaller size of the BD04, and the tail switch would be easier to find in total darkness, plus the lower price. I’m going to have to see what other differences between that one and the BD02… BD04 is at the top of my list now!

wait for the new convoy usb flashlight

Thanks Don, another excellent suggestion, I totally forgot about these x6 “R” versions, and I gifted one of these to my brother back in 2015!

VW, how does the charging connector attach to the tail on the BD04? Magnetic?

I really like it. When will it be available?

The BD06 was listed on GB as 12 mode groups and has the Biscotti diagram in description. First I have seen Biscotti available to other re sellers.

coupon codes are out there now Think I paid $21.65 shipped with tracking. It is a 26650 light though.

Just checked and my TF BD04 plug is US. I never did see a Convoy BD series picture with a US plug though. Thought I would mention it, just in case. Ask Simon if you buy direct. I’m not a zoomie fan but I do use it a lot indoors. But again, if you are modding or testing the driver, the spring is NEG.

No magnet. Clips on like a Snap and a button pops up like a plunger to release it. I think it’s more durable than a micro USB on the driver. The snap part is replaceable and has the micro port. Standard micro to USB cable. Charger is 5V 1A out so if you got Android all you need to carry is the tiny Snap part. Maybe get a spare from Simon.

haven’t charged that light in a Long time. Will now.

Thanks for the info and photos! Didn’t catch the BD04 was a zoomie but that won’t matter for the gift, might be even better since it will be used pretty much strictly indoors. Hopefully the usb adapter isn’t too difficult to snap on there.

Thanks, forgot about these too, love the knurling style on these.

I recall considering the SD mini a while back when there was a special low price on it, but no NW option kept me on the fence, but that wouldn’t matter for the gift light.

They do have some real nice lights, totally off topic but their EDC05 is very interesting!

Thanks Neal, what size battery will these use?

Up close it might look like a corona.

18650, just like a S2+ add a USB port and tripod mount in tail

Got the BD06 from GB today. The charger plug is EU but there was a US adapter inside the bag. Adapter is White and was not in the Convoy box. My guess is GB threw it in for free after the fact. Thought that was pretty nice to catch the details of my order.

BD06 is in fact the Biscotti 12 mode version too.

Bought a few BD03’s about a year ago. Not a big fan of the wire pocket clip, as it’s a bit flimsy, but over all, love the light. Was concerned about the proprietary charge connector, but it hasn’t been an issue. Been thinking about looking at some of the more throwy versions, but so many lights, so little time. Been meaning to try to reflash these lights as I’m not all that keen on the UI that it came with, but again, too many projects, not enough time. I think Biscotti would be a nice upgrade.

Over all, I like what I’ve seen in the BD series. Surprised more don’t seem to appreciate them.

I did some work on the BD06 yesterday. Posted some info and pics of driver and thoughts in the What did you mod today thread

If you already have some 26650 batts its definitely nice light to pick up. Recent deals have been in the $19-22 range with Biscotti 12 mode.
Used the charger yesterday too. Nothing got warm or seemed odd. But I didn’t check the charge current or test the cut off voltage.

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions and input.

I ended up getting an EagleEye X2R for the gift, (for Mom!) I got her the Grey one in 3C and it’s a beautiful looking light. I really like this flashlight and I’m surprised how bright it is for 670lm, excellent tint too.

Also looking at the Convoy S9 now that its out, but she’s already used to a tail switch. Plus the X2R is very simple to use - click on- click off
