1. Astrolux A01 (Nichia) and MF01 version 2 (Nichia). I have ordered a S42S (Nichia) that’s on its way and I have pre ordered a MF02 (4000k-4500k XHP35 Hi).

3. How about start using the NarsilM ui or a modified version of it?
I wish the S42S (well, the MF01 to) that are on its way that I ordered had NarsilM ui and I know it’s possible to get it by removing the MCU from the driver and use that board as a slave to get the USB charging to work and then use a Texas Avenger driver with NarsilM to power the light but unfortunately I’m not one of those skilled people who knows how to do it or have the soldering skills to do it.
1. None yet. I’ve come close to buying the M02 a couple of times but the reported quality control issues and the switch design put me off. On a keyring light I’d rather have some other mechanism that wasn’t vulnerable to becoming undone and lost if turned off in haste.
2. Probably the Rainbow Nichia S42S with long battery tube.
3. The colourful and shiny range is a strong selling point of Astrolux, so many other brands only do black. The LEDs with good quality light (Nichias) and warm(ish) white options are also great.
There aren’t many Alkaline options in the Astrolux range, mostly just small fiddly torches for short use. A larger D or 4xAA model putting out 300-500 lumens would be nice. Something like the now discontinued Lumintop SD10 but in better colours.
Here in the UK the import tax threshold is £15 which puts it just below the sale price of a lot of models. While the tax itself is fairly small (20%), delivery companies tend to charge the recipient £10-15 to put a parcel through customs, which makes the light much more expensive. More stock at the EU warehouse or the ability to pre-pay customs so the delivery companies couldn’t charge extra would make the current prices work much better.

3. Overall damn good. If I could have everything though, options for ramping UI for some lights and NW or high CRI options for all lights.
Yeah I know, but here in the EC we pay VAT on almost everything, so we are used to 19% –25% extra.
EndlessWaves means that the amount of VAT itself is fairly small when your light costs a bit more than the threshold, but the fixed handling fee may very well double the total amount.
2) I just love my S1. Great light. Super useful. Great all-around light and a perfect first lithium ion light.
3) The S42 was a mess and almost made me not take a risk on the MF-01. I’m very glad I went ahead and tried Astrolux again. I’m looking forward to more in the future. Keep up the quality! Test and get reviews EARLY on before releasing! Choose a useful UI!
