Convoy L2 XHP50 Mod

Hi guys, I’m new in this flashlight modding world and eager to learn and enjoy. I have a Convoy L2 with an XPL HI NW emitter. I like the 1 cell form factor of the L2 but I’d like more output, so I would like to mod it to an XHP50 or XHP70 NW

Mi questions are: What emitter should I get so I can get 2500+lm? Will it work with L2 original driver? Will it work and give typical XHP50/70 output out of one Keeppower 5200mah?

I know that this questions might sound silly but I’m trying to learn. Any explanation on how to do this and suggested components would be much appreciated.

There are no single-cell emitters which will do 2500+lm in an L2.

To get output that high, you would need to use either an XHP70 or XHP50 and a 6V boost driver, or an XHP35 and a 12V boost driver.

In an L2, the XHP70 will not throw well, the 50 will sort of throw alright, and the 35 will start to throw well.

If you really want 2500lm+, and you still want it to throw well, I’d recommend getting an XHP50, dedoming it, and using a boost driver.

Thanks for your response. But getting a little confused here. Ive seen a few lights with a single 26650 battery running an XHP70 like the Klarus G20L for example that can put out 3000lm. Will this not be possible on an L2?

I know that the bigger the emitter more output but less throw. So that’s why I thought the XHP50 would be right in the middle.

Any suggestions on how to get more than 1000lm with a single 26650 on the L2? possibly the XHP35?

So if I could run a 6V emitter out of a single cell, what would be that driver, could you name or link such driver…?

In the other hand, is XHP35 a 3V emitter? in that case, could it work for the L2 single cell config…!?

By the way, those two L6 and L2 look amazing…!

Ok, so if XHP50 6V emitter cant run out of a single 26650, could you guys explain how Klarus G20L runs a XHP70 out of a single cell…? I don’t understand.

Why no high-power boost drivers?

Looking around at commercial and community-designed drivers, there’s one for just about everything. Want a direct-drive FET with a sub-lumen moonlight? No problem. Constant current buck for a 3V emitter with multiple cells in series? Easy. Run an XP-L off a AAA? No problem. Run an XHP50 from a single 18650? XHP70 have a 6V option too as the XHP50 depending on the Mcpcb (both have 12V option too).

But XHP35 and XHP35 Hi only comes in 12V option.

The xm-l, xm-l2, XP-l, XP-l hi, xp-l2, Sst-40 is a 3v emitter.

And whatever you choose you need the right driver to power them.

Not many drivers for 1 cell powered xhp35 and XHP35 hi tho.

One single cell driver is Kaidomain H2-C 22mm “12V” Boost driver.

It can power the xhp35 Hi, xhp50 (12V version), XHP70 (12V version) with a single battery. (If the driver fits the L2)

If you want a FET direct drive driver and add a de-domed/shawed Sst-40 or an XP-l Hi (I guess you want throw (long range)) you could use a 17mm BLF A6 A17DD-L FET+1 driver but I’m guessing you need a 17mm to 20mm driver adaptor.

I’m guessing you want a long range flashlight. I think you should go for a Direct Drive FET driver with de-domed/shawed Sst-40 or a XP-L Hi or if you can find a good 12V driver that’s fits then go for a XHP35 Hi.

I don’t know what size of the driver the L2 have so just guessing here.

I live in the UK, and yeah, I’m looking for a thrower but I thought I could give it more output. The XPL HI works fine but could always do with more light isn’t it…?

Of course I could use the second battery on the L2 but for that matter I would have gotten the L6… I like the small profile thrower…!!

I have an L2 running a xhp35 hi with a mtn buck driver that gets 2480 lumens and 280 kcd with 4 26350 in it. I’ve been thinking about getting one of those kaidomain boost drivers in it and see how it does with 2 26350’s
