Saw Alexis Korner back somewhere around 1970. I was an acid-fueled youngster then and went to concerts every week. Cheap then. $5 would get you a good seat. Saw quite a few great performers that I couldn’t yet appreciate. Korner, J.J. Kale, Long John Baldry, Boz Scaggs, etc. They kinda bored me. Not the acid rock I was looking for. Sure wish I could do it over again.

I was speaking in retrospect—shit that happened over 40 years ago. I was speaking to some degree in regret about having missed the elemental qualities of great performers because of my youth and the drug influences. I think I made that kinda clear. But since my behavior was “technically bad” , I’m tainted for life, huh? Thanks for sitting in the judgement seat. I’m sure you’ve lived your life as pure as the driven snow, right?

When Greg Lake was with King Crimson, Carl Palmer was with the Crazy World of Arthur Brown and Atomic Rooster Keith Emerson was with The Nice. Later the three joined to become Emerson, Lake and Palmer.

The guitar playing in that ’73 live version of Hocus Pocus was incredible. It’s quite a bit faster than the album version and a shame they didn’t have him shredding on the radio edit.
My wife and I like to look through youtube for cover versions of classic songs, sometimes there are some decent versions but usually not.
We could never find a decent cover of Frankenstein by the Edgar Winter Group so here’s a fun live version by them.
