About 0.72 times of D1s lux value for my 3m test. Not going to supply the measured values as I suspect my readings are on the high side for my GM1020 meter.
BG's listing says 800 meters, which, doing the math, is 160 kcd. For a 54 mm head diam and true FET driver, I suppose this could be possible.
I got the M8, D1, and D1S all on the way, but may be a little while yet.
From the pic above, though the M8's head is wider, looks like the reflector I.D.'s might be about the same - the M8's bezel setup looks wasteful on reflector width.
As freeme measured, maybe the M8 is not a true FET, or is using thin LED wires and poorer performing springs, or could be just the difference between a XPL vs. a XPL HI. Hank's Emisar lights use the great performing Beryllium copper springs, here: http://intl-outdoor.com/gold-plated-beryllium-copper-spring-5-pcs-p-831.html, shown with djozz's spring test results.
Received mine today - came on one of those green plastic padded cases, cheap but ok. Spare lens, USB cable, lanyard., o-rings.
it's a 4000K XPL HI LED - did not expect that...
I know it's a 4000K because today I also received a D1S from Neal with a XPL HI V2 5D 4000K and they match tint pretty much exactly.
The UI may be a V1 Emisar - last used level is not remembered, so from OFF, a single click always starts at lowest. The 3X click is battery voltage, not SOS as noted earlier.
The ramping is klunky - not consistent, and intensity of the hot spot is not as bright as the D1S, but it could be the battery I used.
The 26650 battery tube is too narrow - one LK 5000 cell I tried will not fit, but fits a Manker U21 perfectly. I popped in a EVVA protected I had laying around, fits but it's tight, but the length is another problem - partially crushed the + cap on the EVVA.
On the M8 there is a switch LED, blue, but it goes on when the light is ON, OFF when the light is OFF.
The M8 is a slightly smaller carry light than a U21, but quite a bit bigger than a D1S. Reflector ID appears to be bout the same as the D1S because the M8 has a wastefully wide bezel, though it's a nice chunk of SS.
BG - ordered Nov 11th, shipped Nov 24th. Dunno - maybe they shipped a couple of them before stopping. I had a knee arthroscopic surgery done Monday so haven't been downstairs yet where my stuff is - I'm still using crutches, so can't do much in testing/inspection yet.
The battery tube seems like the biggest issue - upsetting to not be able to use LK 5000's because I got a ton of them and still think they are the best. Lack of a manual is weird too. Just noticed the driver has a retaining ring - dunno what to call it, but has the 2 holes for a tool and it's not threaded, just clips in there - seems quite unusual in a flashlight.
Dunno if this is Hank's or not - need to see the driver - might help. The spring on the driver looks like what Hank uses in the Emisar lights.
Thanks freeme for considering the green model. Hopefully others besides myself will have interest enough to get some of them in stock for this deal.
This Maeerxu M8 has become my leading choice between it, the UT02 and D1S. No green color for the D1S like D1/D4, not sure I’d like the sandy texture anyway. I’m getting bored with all all the black or grey flashlights, would like something different, this green looks real nice.
The green color may not as bright as it looks in the stock photo I posted above, here’s some from the Chinese site that were posted in reviews, but camera’s, settings and monitors could show things differently.
Photos are extremely small as I couldn’t figure out how to view them full size on that site.
