Different clip for Sunwayman V10R???

I have two of these flashlights and both stock clips are broken. I’d like to drill and tap some screw holes and use it to fasten a clip of said design. I just don’t know which clip to buy that fits the curvature and is proper length…suggestion(s)?

It’s a 22mm diameter light since no responses.

22mm? So roughly S2/S2+ dimensions?

2mm smaller.

Skinnier clip like on a Jet-II?

Not sure where drilling’n’tapping holes comes in.

I wanted a temporary clip for a Minimag (I hate clips in general). Took one off a generic 18650 light (S2+?) and just bent the clippy part that fits around the tube, ever so slightly. Lather, rinse, repeat, ’til it was the right size.

I thought of a way to make the S2 clip to work. Find a same diameter steel tube and use a hose clamp to change the radius. Tap and screw means drill a hole, use tap to make threads, and use loctite on threads when screwing it onto the flashlight.

Well, yah, I know what drill’n’tap means, but not as it’d apply to clip-on clips. My ’502 has the clip bolted on with 2 screws, but that’s it. The S2 clip looks pretty thin to drill any holes through it, unless you’re using eyeglass screws or something.

Aha, there’s a S2 clip that bolts into the holes around the “lip” on the tailcap. This bugger:

I was thinking of these (got a bunch, so…):

With a picture of your light, we may have more ideas to help you

The top one. I tried the clip on one and it didn’t work. The holes would be drilled in between the light’s existent holes. I’d then thread the holes instead of using the nuts it comes with.

This shows the “standard” clip applied to a V10r

I wish I’d have bought one of those Ti when they were available!

Found a clip, and it’s on the slow boat from China.

.
The one on the left with Trit tubes was my all day carry for several years and the Ti does resist wear very well. The one in the middle with the clip is my shelf queen, never been carried. The one on the end is a V11R with factory clip.
The V10R in the middle has the holes bored and tapped. Its been several years since I installed the clip, I cant remember where I purchased the clip or what size the tap was. If you have already ordered a clip wait until you have the screws so you can figure out what tap and drill size you need, unless you already know the size.

Did you do the drilling for the trits? If so, what did you use?

Yes, I did. I used a milling machine and a #52 .0635 drill bit if I remember correctly. A 1/16 bit could also be used .0625.
I do suggest you buy a quality drill bit. Titanium is similar to stainless when drilling. I use light weight oil to keep the piece cool while drilling and be generous. If it heats up and work hardens it becomes almost impossible to drill.
Here’s a video that might help a little.
.
A few years back after receiving the mill, I got tired of dull bits and failures. I invested in 2 set’s of good USA made drill bits. Not cheap but you will not be disappointed in the way they drill. Very sharp and they stay sharp. You can also buy the individual bits separate if you only need a certain size. This is the exact sets I have.

Good luck!

Have 2 V10R’s and they’re both (unfortunately) aluminum. With that said it’s not an issue of drilling into hard metal. My issue is what machinery to drill with. All I have is corded and cordless drills and a Dremel drill press.

If you have a drill press and a vise of some sort to hold the ring straight and flat to the bit, it shouldn’t be any problem.
If not drill it by hand. The most important part will be where you start drilling at the top, well its actually the bottom that touches the control ring.
Keep A slight angle in towards the inside of the light and the drill bit should ride the barrel in between every fin you drill. It may not be perfect but I think it could be done, just take your time.

Instead of UV activated glue to fasten the trit in. I used the silicone sheathing off a small flashlight wire I had laying around. That’s the small white pieces you see in each of the four holes in the first pic (silicone wire sheathing). If I ever need to replace one its no problem.
