5000K light and emitter under UV identical to pne of my 5000K CRI Nichias
The 3500K was the first generation TIP CRI if I’m not mistaken; at least it was advertised as 3500K I believe. My guess is they figured out it’s too warm (could have been a marketing choice), and switched to what seems to be the current standard of 5000K for neutral white.
It’s 5300K not 3500K

Yes I know, to my eyes it’s similar to XP-G2 S2 B2 5700K but much nicer color rendering 
What’s strange to me - it is not as ‘purple’ to my eyes as it is for the camera. Still higher color temperature than MT06MD though…
Not that I am really disappointed for the price I bought it for - even if the CRI isn’t ~90 but 80 for instance 
Still a great light for gifts - and having one on my keychain as well.
I have a tip cri. Nice little keychain light, I expected it to be warmer. I use it a lot but won’t break my heart when it gives up…
I just got the NiteCore TIP CRI 2017 (Nichia) last week from GearBest.
It’s color tint looks very close to my Astrolux S41S (Nichia 219B, supposedly 5000K neutral-white), so my guess is the TIP CRI 2017 is also around 5000K (even if the product description does say 3500K).
I have an issue, not sure if this is a defect or it’s common to all. I notice that it drains (or more correctly self-drains) very fast, indicating a high parasitic drain?
For instance, I charge the TIP CRI 2017 to full (green indicator — battery check mode will flash 3 times), I don’t use it for 2 days, when I check the battery level the next day (pressing the ‘modes’ button once show battery level) — it now flashes only once, indicating 10% battery left.
When I first received the NiteCore TIP CRI 2017 (ie. from shipping), it was totally dead (won’t power on at all) — I thought mine was defective until I charged it up.
Does this indicate my TIP CRI 2017’s battery is bad, or it just has a high parasitic drain?

My CRI does not have parasitic drain at all. Possibly your is a faulty one? …
GB should update the description of the CRI TIP 2017… this isn’t 3500K at all !
I sold mine because of that (though I could have swapped a nice 219C of my choice)
Thanks for the response (it’s out-of-topic for this message). I’ll test it again, just fully charged awhile ago, won’t use it but will do ‘battery check’ every day to see if if the battery level drops without using.
Only problem is how does one show ‘proof’ to Gearbest for a parasitic drain issue? (would need to send them ‘pictures’ or ‘video’, but how does one send proof of parasitic drain). Anyway, re-test and see if the self-drain happens again in a few days.
The NiteCore TIP CRI 2017 does have a Nichia 219B (compared to the 219C of the Astrolux K1 Nichia).

iirc the fast discharge was an issue when using Lockout…
and I agree that after the first run of 3500k High CRI, they switched to a 5000k High CRI
Mine is a new one, glacier stainless. It arrived with a full battery after about 2 months in transit. Took a lot of playing around with it to get it to drop to 2/3 indicated.
Definitely 5000k or maybe even higher judgung by my other lights. I wouldn’t call it neutral, but it doesn’t have a bluish tint either, so on the more acceptable end of the cool whites I would say. Much cooler than a Q8 or a neutral A6. Almost indistinguishable from an olight i3e eos.

I have also become a TIP CRI holder. I was surprised that it shines colder than 3500K, just as it was advertised. I measured it with a colorimeter and it turned out that the color was 5434K. It pleases me because it’s my favorite color temperature.

Mine definitely has a problem. I fully charged it yesterday morning. After the full charge, doing the battery-check mode indicates 3 flashes, meaning it’s full (3 flashes = >90% battery charge). I didn’t use it the whole day and left it somewhere no one will touch it, I only did some ‘battery checks’ and it became 2 flashes sometime in the early evening. Just before I went to sleep later at night, I did another battery check and now it only has 1 flash (<10% battery charge). Woke up this morning, it’s totally dead, no flash, won’t power on at all.
Problem is, how does one report this issue to Gearbest, it’s barely a week since I received this item. (they’ll ask to send pictures and videos — but parasitic drain?)
I have an earlier generation CRI (2016 model without clip; but also without parasitic drain, so I guess it’s gen 1.1) and it’s definitely NOT 3500K. Frankly it’s not that much different than 2017 TIP CRI, est. 4500K.
