Red Convoy s2+ with one mode only?

Hi everyone,
I just got my first Convoy (red s2+) and no matter how many different options I tried with full clicks and half taps,I get only one mode (probably the 100% one). Am I doing something wrong or what?

Doesn't sound normal, BUT - there are many different versions (with different modes) of the S2+. It would help to know exactly where you got this from (and any details from the listing). There are actually some modded versions (like those from Adventure Sport Flashlights), that have a 100% ONLY mode (only high is available), but chances are you would know that if your ordered one from there.

That really doesn’t sound right. Where did it come from (the vendor)?

Try to tighten the locking rings at the head and tailcap, maybe something isn’t making full contact. Does it flicker if you shake the light?

Sean

I got it from GB , https://www.gearbest.com/led-flashlights/pp_154256.html
@jf_smm,
It doesn’t flicker,I will try to tighten the locking rings but I doubt it would help.

If everything is tight but it’s still single mode the driver must be bad. GB will probably want a video to show the issue but then a replacement should be headed your way pretty quickly.

Best Regards (and welcome!)

Sean

May there be driver for 12 group modes? It seems there is 1 mode in it. How to change groups in such driver?

The Biscotti firmware has 12 groupe modes to choose from, with group 12 as the single 100% mode.
The provided link suggests this is the regular 3/5 group driver ( 3 modes, no blinky / 3 modes, 2 blinkies).

Are you using a protected cell? They are longer than unprotected cells and can push into the driver too hard.
Give it a try: loosen the front end (tube - head) a few turns. The front end always makes contact.
Leave the back end (tube - tailcap combo) tight as usual. It makes only contact when screwed in tight.
If your light starts behaving like it should, you most probably have a damaged driver board.

Replacing a driver board is flashlights 102, not flashlights 101 (IMHO). Even with a Convoy C2+.
If you are prepared to go that way: you will notice that the driver is soldered to the pill (no retainer ring).
And at re-assembling: be aware of not shortening out the reflector against the led board.

Convoy does have a single mode driver without an MCU. Maybe they shipped it with that one? Anyways it’s time you contact GB and tell them your flashlight’s not working as advertised.

doesnt look normal, i have the same but in blue color and i have several mods as stated in the info,

Mode: 2 Kind of Mode (1. 3 Modes: Low 5; Mid 40; High 100; 2. 5 Modes: Low 5; Mid 40; High 100; Strobe; SOS)

try a different battery?

I `m sure that we should not believe GearBest`s description. Unfortunately they may change product but leave description without any changing for a long time…

You are totally right. But …… the Biscotti driver costs more than the standard Nanjg.
It would be a fantastic first when you get more than you have paid for.

If you remove the battery tube from the head of the light, what color is the board the spring is attached to? Pic?

jf_smm - thanks
Henk4U2 - I tried with both protected and unprotected. No effect after loosening the head.
vwpieces -

Thanks for the pic.
Green is not the Biscotti driver. If it was the red 12 mode Biscotti driver there may have been a chance it was programmed to the single 100% mode
But that is not offered in the green. Not to my knowledge anyway.

Got a paper clip?
remove tail cap, short the battery negative across to the silver end of the tube and see if modes change.

And just in case… tube has silver threads on One end, one end is anodized. Silver threads go to the Head, anno to tail cap. But I doubt this is a problem.

Reflector shorts ‘+’ wire in head.

There are green FX-12s “Biscotti” currently available from some Chinese sellers, but I’m guessing the one in the picture is your classic 105D.

So,nothing worked and I contacted GB support, they offered me a refund for half the amount I paid and I accepted. To me the flashlight is pretty useless at 100% only mode, but for the given price I wouldn’t make a big deal out of it.
I got 2 other S2+s in the meantime, with a different color temperature. My question is,how easy it is to replace one of the emitters of those with the one of the red model? I have no modding experience. Is there any tutorial I can use?
Thanks
