BLF GT cases, soft or hard

Does anyone have the dimensions for the GT? I’m after the diameter of the bezel and length, please!

I want to see if a “trumpet gig case” might work.

Condition 1 801 Medium Hard Case

I’m going to try the

SRA Cases EN-AC-FG-C401 Silver Aluminum

Best hard case I have seen with correct dimensions for the GT.

I’m planning on making slots at the end for extra cells

Dimensions to the best of my knowledge are roughly….
320mm in length (12.6 inches)
134mm in diameter at the head (5.3 inches)

With those dimensions I have been looking at padded camera lens cases. I am after a well padded case, but not sure I want the bulk of a hard case. With a light of this caliber and cost, plus the batteries, I am not going to be overly cheap about protecting it in storage.

~$40 and near perfect fit

~$35 and a little on the big side.

Also a plus for me is the loop on the top/back of these. I can hang it in the back of my cabinet where all my flashlight/electronics stuff goes. Easy to grab when desired, but near impossible to accidentally knock over/out of the cabinet.

I am not sure if the GT will fit but Harbor Freight offers these protective cases in three sizes.

Large Case

Harbor Freight has 25% discount coupon running until 12/10/2017

I haven’t the opportunity to put my hands on these yet, but being familiar with Harbor Freight I can’t expect to be exactly like the “Pelican Case”
These cases at the price point with coupon , appear to be a deal.

Another good option would be this case, i like how u have dividers so that u can make it a tight fir for the GT and any other accessory’s, and maybe on top where the tools go i can put my Cells ??? they do offer a smaller size but from the pics i cant tell if it has the dividers

I bought the one from harbor freight it has a spare inch and half lengthwise on both sides and an inch in height. So it should fit snugly, it’s made very well considering the price.

Where are the updates?

Who bought one?

What did you buy?

How is the quality?

I ended up getting one of these from Amazon, and it’s worked out really well: http://a.co/hwFMF9s
It comes with extra padding you can velcro in for a smaller mixer, so I ended up taking one of those and folding it over the wrong direction under the GT tail to hold the tube a little more securely.

Have a nice aluminium hard case that I’m going to fill with foam and fit the GT.

Here it is inside the case with the foam cut, also added the BLF Q8 so I would have a thrower and a flooder together.

The plan is to add at least 2 battery boxes that hold 2 18650’s above or under the GT and 2 to the side of the Q8.
Also have a shoulder strap I would like to have it together with the GT.

That’s really nice thijsco19! :+1:

Woaw! What a case! A tad on the large size isn’t it?
Not sure i should applaud or advise to get help! - lol
With a couple BLF A6 and a charger, you’d have the ultimate portable BLF shrine. Well done!

I also plan on getting a similar hard case, but smaller. I’ve never tried cutting/carving foam… How does it go?

One for the ladies?

I was thinking exactly that (the 3 lights)… and now I’m thinking how “next level” can we make this?

Possible kit contents:
i) Lights

  1. GT
  2. Q8
  3. A6
  4. 348 (possibly more than one)
    ii) Charger(s)
iii) Space for separate/extra batteries (in waterproof boxes? (in the waterproof case!))
    iv) GT lens cap
    v) GT strap/handle
    vi) Replacement parts (which, though?)

For the charger I’m considering one of these:
a) 1 x Nitecore i8 (8 slots @ 0.5A)

  • if you are going for looks and not charging speed (especially if you are rationalizing buying all of this by it being a gift for someone who isn’t going to fiddle with buttons on the charger)

b) 1 x GyrFalcon All-88 (8 slots @ 1A)

c) 1/2/3 x Miboxer C4-12 (4 slots @ 3A) if you have money to burn

Are there any other chargers to consider here?
I’m leaning towards the Nitecore i8 since the package will be a gift to someone who won’t mess with any buttons. (In line with that, I’ve set the GT to “Mode-set” 1 (100%, 2A). Is there any data on how much an XHP35’s life is shortened by overdriving it at 2.5A instead of overdriving it at 2A?)

To fit all of this, could we find someone to design a “configurable” foam cutout (where you only remove enough cut pieces of foam to fit the lights+accessories you want)? Two points against this: it implies a single case size which will be too big for some contents + won’t look as nice if it’s half empty.

Have bought two of the cases. OP #1 is too small for the GT, can not even zip it closed with the GT inside. OP #2 is very cheaply made and will probably fit two GT’s inside, too large, only very thin padding on one side.

Here’s how well the GT fits in the case I linked earlier. The dimensions are pretty perfect, and the case is super padded.
