The NEW Sofirn C8F Triple XP-L W2 w/side e-switch

You might want to consider the Luminus SST-40, it can make a lot more lumens than the XM-L2 and fits the same footprint. The only ones commonly available now though have a blue-white output, not really bad but noticeable. Lumens is fantastic though!

Thank you for the info! I’ll look and see if Digi-Key has them in stock.

I’ve had my Supfire M6 running at close to 5000 lumens for quite a while now, triple XM-L2. I swapped in 3 SST-40’s and it now makes 8866 lumens. Seriously, an emitter swap!

The only way I know how to check is the usual way, by accident, but I’m really good at checking that way.

Thanks, I don’t know if that’s good or bad either, but it looks like it’s fairly low?

Nice!

That is the 2 milliamp setting. There are 1000 micro amps in a milliamp (had to look up because this stuff is hard to remember, lol). 1 milliamp is pretty high drain. The Q8 has 125 micro amps drain and it is perfectly fine, very low. This shows 9 microamps which is super low. I don’t even know how the mcu can be running on that even in its sleep mode. (It has to be partially running so it can detect a signal from the switch and turn itself on)

That sounds awesome to me at any kelvin :sunglasses: Were could one fine those emitters available, SST-40.

Kaidomain has them: http://www.kaidomain.com/p/S026881.Luminus-SST-40-N4-BA-White-6500K-LED-Emitter

I just made a triple with them: Mod: Olight SR Mini with triple SST-40 and host bypass. Three of them in a reflector light like this is very enticing indeed :stuck_out_tongue:

3-SST-40 are pretty Shocking coming out of a MMU X3 specially if your on the receiving end! The 21700 hits at 24-25amps and with the FETDD SIR800 guppydrv.program on Turbo/Strobe….it makes for a

Fist full of Lightning coming out of this thing!

I have a Convoy Triple SST-40 Optic it is bright but nothing like whats coming out of a triple reflector light! Kaidomain has the even higher kelvin 7500k’s I just might swap out the 6500k’s for when I get the time….

Maybe Sofirn can come out with a XM triple board for the C8F too! :+1:

I have to say I’m impressed with Sofirn too, this is one of the most interesting lights out there. And also, well done. Not so long ago they had good light, but they were willing to make a number of big changes to improve it.
Now if they ported one of BLF ramping UIs to their driver…. I view ramping as the proper way of using e-switch and overall I think our UIs are simply very well done.

Yep ramping is great for e-switch lights, I like Narsil Lexel built T/A drivers in Big lights. But the D4V2 and the Q8 double click to Turbo has a lag/ hesitation going into Turbo, the Lexel built T/A Narsil drivers are instantaneous.

 Turbo lag in a flashlight! :stuck_out_tongue:

Hahaa I know I’m more of a NOS guy myself! :+1:

I like both turbo and big displacement NA engines

I’ve had a little boy racer, ford escort cosworth with the engine and turbo tuned up to about 500 hp. I really loved the noise of the turbo spooling up during slight lag and then the kick and the ass when it got up to speed… but turbo lag in a light? Nah, I think I’ll pass on that

Sorry for offtopic again! I like old fords  I had 4 sierras, two Scorpios. One scorpio still mine. 2.9 V6 estate.
The escort cosworth basically a shortened sierra cosworth with escort body. And now I have a Volvo S70 T5 turbo with the scorpio. Oh that 5 cilynder sound with BOW. …

Sorry for the continued off-topic chatter, but yes… I love me some old Fords! The 255 flathead in my ’49 won’t be racing anytime soon though…

Flathead V8, man those were the days! My Dad had a ’37 Cadillac most of my life with a flathead V8 in it. The hood had front to rear panels that lifted and folded in half, propped open…. one on each side of the engine. Big Teardrop headlights. Dad would prop open the hood on both sides so you could see the engine running, couldn’t hear a damn thing, then he’d balance a Nickel on it’s edge on TDC of the teardrop headlight and let it sit there, engine idling. I’ve seen people say it wasn’t running, he must have a small electric motor turning the pulleys… he’d reach in and grab the carb feed and rev it up, Nickel still sitting on the round teardrop headlight. It was the smoothest gasoline engine I’ve ever seen.

Edit: Yes, I grew up with my Dad in the Antique Car Club, we’ve been to car shows in many states, I’ve seen more old cars in full restoration that I can remember. The old boat tail Duesenbergs were a favorite of mine, with big long engines and flex tube ss exhausts exiting the side of the hood then disappearing under the running boards.

Grrrrrrrowwll!

Oh the days, when a car was the epitome of style…

I miss the sound of those big unbridled engines….

This is what my Dad had for so many years, we rode in it in the 4th of July parades that Belton TX is famous for, when I was a kid…

Dad sold it to the son of an old friend who is fully restoring it from the ground up (as if it needed it) He found that even in 1937 the original exhaust was ceramic lined, had a bear of a time finding someone to do that on the new exhaust to make it fully true to the original.

For those that’ve never seen a flathead V8, Cadillac style…

And why’d they do away with hood ornaments, anyway?
