Stripey little MTG2 light

Thanks for the kind words guys

The battery is 16340. I’m pretty sure a protected cell will fit. Moose, what bits are you talking about, left over torch bits ??

PM sent.

That is really nice. Please keep us updated on this project. Seems to have a little Zanflare F1 inspiration to it  I really do like that knurling.

That stripey flashlight looks pretty sweet!

Looks like the ridges in the lens and the ridges in the body line up perfectly.
Just begs to be held.
Much admiration of your skills.

Whats the driver you used?

Original inspiration came from a light I saw on CPF a few years ago but I don’t remember who made it. It was brass and either AA or AAA with twisty tail switch.

Driver is a 2.4a laser driver but my little battery is certainly not capable of that and I suspect the output current will have dropped anyway because the driver is boosting more than it was designed for.

Any chance of getting a picture or link to the tool you used for the pattern?

Lol, it’s a simple case of one knurling wheel. I have knurling tool below that allows me to adjust the height and use one wheel or the other or both.

Looks superb!
Though I’d rather see it with a striped metal button.

Hmm… that’d be a challenge. Would be cool if I could keep the lighted tail, somehow me thinks it would be easier without. How about if I used another striped lens for a button….

I’ll keep it in mind. Thanks for the inspiration Agro.

Wow! Nice work. Different and cool look!

I like !!

Love the old school style.

Wow, really neat light.
Love it.

Thanks pp. Mine is self centring so no stripes for me.

I received an mtg2 and managed to dedome it (without stripping the phosphor  ) and fitted it to this little light. Some quick shots with my phone…

Tint still looks good but can’t really tell as there’s not much white objects in the pictures

It’s good to see it up and running the way you wanted.
Is this the ultimate light for spotting Stripey Snapper? :person_facepalming:

Yeh, I like the tint too.

I’m not too good at fishing so this is more for looking in the dark recess’s of my garage for stripey paint

Very nice flashlight build pinkpanda3310! Building a flashlight body from a lathe is most impressive. I don’t think I’ll ever have the skills, let alone the tools, to ever do that. And the tint looks much better with the phosphor.
