Banggood customer service poor

(Long time lurker, seldom poster)

Bought a hobby charger from Banggood and received it over the weekend. First thing I noticed was the lack of packing material. It was shipped in the original box with a layer of foam around the box and then thrown in a bag.

A corner of the box was crushed. Open the box to find the charger basically loose inside the box. It was in a bubble wrap bag, but not secure. When the box was dropped or thrown or punted, it damaged the charger.

Both sides of the charger are bent and the whole thing won’t sit flat on a level surface. Granted it works right now, but for how long?

Contacted BG and sent the required photos and videos. Basically they have offered to refund $10 on a $100 charger. “If you need to return items to us,you will bear the shipping fee as we sent items as you ordered.”

Sooo, because the charger works, they claim no responsibility. Great.

I was going to leave a poor review, but I read they delete them.

That was Gearbest

Is it data breach from Gearbest or other websites? Thought Gearbest explained it is people trying username and password of other websites on Gearbest website. Problem is people using similar login for different website so this kind of breaches make Gearbest vulnerable too. But it’s user fault too.

My mistake

This is mind boggling that they won’t accept responsibility. Started the process of disputing the transaction with my credit card company. Should have used PayPal. Lesson learned.

If you can’t accept $10, you can counter offer higher amount. Exchange or sending new one is rare if it is still functioning. Suspicions it will break in future is not reliable reason. What if it won’t fail at all. I think what you can claim them is cosmetic damage due to bad packaging and shipping.
Of course you can rely on last resort to use PayPal dispute.

File a paypal dispute immediately for damaged goods. Bent charger = damaged. Whether it works or not is beside the point.

They will send you out a new charger, or refund the total. Oh, and don’t close the dispute until you receive either the product or refund. They will say “close the dispute and we will refund”. Don’t fall into that trap, because you can’t re-open PP disputes.

Unfortunately, I didn’t use PayPal.

Well, get yourself a PP account so the next time you can protect yourself. They will drag this on until you give up. All the chinese stores do this. If they know you have no recourse, you’ll be out of luck.

Opened a dispute through my CC. I have never gone through that process. Is it a waste of time?

If BG doesn’t respond to your CC company, then it might work. If BG says “he hasn’t shipped the product back” knowing full well you won’t because it’s too expensive, then you will probably lose the dispute.

The beauty of PP is exactly this. And also, your CC info is hidden from the seller.

NOPE!!
As I understand it…Gearbest has a vulnerability in their app which allows access to their database where account details (including all contact info etc) are stored
UNENCRYPTED???

Their response so far has been very feeble!

steveinmd, do you have pictures of the damaged charger?
Be reasonable is the right method. Don’t push so hard and get mad at it when you can’t get what you want at the end, it’s not worthy.

Let us ask GB about it and demand encryption as standard requirement. But may i know is there video showing this no-encryption thing? GB might not know their encryption method is easily hacked.

I have sent pictures of the damage. See my first post about how little they care about damage. They provided a working charger and that is the end of their responsibility. I would be open to a partial refund but $10 is ridiculous for how big a hit the charger took.

Yes, we should work together as a group. We can all offer extra $$ with each order if they provide video proof of their updated security procedures. A few suggestions…

$1 if they show someone locking door to computer room.

$2 if they show video of vicious dogs guarding our info.

$3 if they show locked door, dogs and unplugging computer when they go home at night

Yeah, try not to let them get you riled. Focus on working with your cc company.
